MY 100TH REVIEW!
I've been on this site for a year, as of yesterday and this review will be my 100th! It's crazy that I decided to review 100 pieces of music, from LPs, EPs and Singles. I'm proud to say my music taste has grown massively since joining this site and it's something I have to give it credit for. Before, I was musically illiterate. Jake Ryan's 'Blind' is a confident, fully realised debut that channels the spirit of 1970's piano-driven pop while maintaining its own identity. Knowing the amount of work that went into this, it's gratifying to hear that effort reflected so clearly in the music. The album's funky, piano-rock core recalls the era of Billy Joel, Elton John and Paul McCartney whose influence Ryan embraces but does not mimic.
