beautiful funk album, one of the most essential albums ever made.

Avenged Sevenfold - Life Is But a Dream...

people are really underrating this album. nothing about this is below a 40/100 minimum. the production is kinda eh but I just changed my EQ settings and it sounded perfect. this is album is ambitious, unique and just a great overall experience. The diversity is absolutely insane and I can respect that novelty. it flows well and giving it a 0/100 to me is just a slap in the face. Also, calling this a copy of some other band, be it mr bungle or SOAD is also a slap in the artist's face and misses ... read more

Dragon is an incredible piece of upbeat metal. Face melting, head moving, lyrically chanting.

On Wik's review of Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
"You clearly didnt understand if you think it’s just a bad trip 😭😭 It’s about Rael’s character development from being a fake tough macho man to learning compassion and how to love and facing his insecurities/fears. There are literal flashback, recurring characters and a very obvious twist. And a beautiful message too. You 100% read a wrong interpretation cuz even the liner notes give an idea of the story"
On Sebtastic's review of Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
"The lyrics are only somewhat interesting cuz you probably dont know the album’s full concept. But i promise, these are some of the best executed lyrics concept wise. It’s extremely meta to the point i’d say no other band has ever written a song like this. But it’s also pretty complicated to understand and you have to be interested in the album’s story. No joke, it’s clever and has multiple layers (4th wall, narrative, direct or wtv)"
On Evanator's review of Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
"Roger waters didnt bring creative stellar bass 😭 Unless you’re talking about their first albums, roger waters played bass but didnt really do that much. Allegedly, gilmour claims to have played the bass parts on animals (their album with the best bass)"
On Heinos's review of Sungazer - Against the Fall of Night
"“Trap of relying on complex theory notions” Bro 😭 that’s the point of their music 💀 it literally cant be sungazer without the complex rhythms. If anything, the music wouldnt be noticeable and plain forgettable if it didnt have the 11:4 polyrhythms or wtv It’s like saying bob dylan relies too much on “deep lyricism” as if that’s not entirely what his appeal is Maybe it’s not your thing but none of it is a “trap”. They know what sound they’re going for"
On Sulfuras26's review of Genesis - Genesis
"Listened to the two songs back to back Yes both may have a similar structure/vibe but neither is derivative. U can 100% hear the artistry in both Pay attention specifically to the chords of Mama, especially that major resolution (tony bank’s compositional style), the strange break where phil goes “aha ehh” for a while, even the unconventional introduction of the drum groove I get not liking this album but Genesis helped pioneer/forge the 80s sound ppl love calling derivative. They were one of the first to experiment with it. I dont like this era that much either but u cant call an album with second home by the sea derivative bro. Cant even really think of an album that sounds like this. But i get why you dont like it"
On IanFish's review of Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
"David bowie’s debut didnt do this better lol Sure they both have similarities but this one is way more innovative, strange and charming imo. The appeal isnt the nursery rhymes, it’s the production and weird compositional techniques used Like the song bike sounds super strange and eerie. Or astronomy domine’s whole space theme fits with the insanely reverbed sound"
On alene20's review of Jacob Collier - Djesse (Vol. 2)
"If you truly wanna criticize the music. Compare it to music trying to achieve the same and why you think it does it better. The technical thingies arent “unnecessary” since it’s what the music is about You probably wouldnt enjoy the album if he just used simple diatonic chords. If anything, it’d prob be less interesting and boring. That’s kinda the point of experimental music. I agree with your criticisms and think they great. But pls change your perception on musicianship cause it seems you dont get why musicians make the music they love. (Like the people that hate malsteem for his neoclassical guitar)"
On alene20's review of Jacob Collier - Djesse (Vol. 2)
"This review is kinda… just wrong You’re impression of him is “LOOK ME!! GUYS!!” Really?? How? Are you purposely being dismissive? Have you ever made art? Do you have interests in anything? Like my guy is passionate about something most people arent into and he reflects it a lot in his music. Musicians don’t “flex” on their albums to impressive zombies. It’s just their artistic expression, if you’ve ever made music, you’d know the process is the fun. Collier has fun adding riffs and funky chords. It’s playful and inoffensive, dont try playing him into some disingenuous show off This whole review seems disrespectful to artists as a whole. You dont dislike the complex theory, you just dont like the style"
On FakeMrM's review of Jacob Collier - Djesse (Vol. 2)
"People try to listen to a style of music they’re not used to challenge How often do u listen to vocals?? What did he do wrong in the song? You elaborated on nothing. Could’ve kept it at “not my style” but then you had to add some pretentious ahh “jacob collier needs to learn how to make music”. Like what?? Moon river?? He’s making an unpopular style of music he enjoys. There’s nothing “bland” about that song, i’d have a hard time naming another song like it off the top of my head. This is a funny nonsensical review"
On FYFAYAS is Shelved's review of King Crimson - Red
"@AyeItsJoey “They have to pay off” No?? 😭 you’re acting like every single instrumental section is a buildup to smth. Yall straight up just dont like musicians playing their instruments atp cause you’re basically calling the instrumental sections of the song “hold music” They’re not “tacted onto songs”, they ARE the songs. These are MUSICIANS playing their instruments, with melodies and rhythms and chords"
On Sulfuras26's review of Genesis - Genesis
"You said the album with mama and the home by the sea suite is derivative Please find me more prog psychedelic 80s pop that’s sounds like this. Tony banks has a unique compositional style (chord progression wise)"
On m4dseason's review of Melody's Echo Chamber - Melody's Echo Chamber

On Task's review of Harmonium - Les cinq saisons
"Relisten to “dixie”, nothing boring about that song"
On hausenger's review of Harmonium - Les cinq saisons
"NOOO, you ruined the run of great reviews on this album :( i can’t believe someone actually dislikes this though, it’s so beautiful and well made"
On FYFAYAS is Shelved's review of King Crimson - Red
"Im starting to feel like yall just dislike musicians playing their instruments. The “long Instrumental passages” is the music, they’re musicians. It’s the exact same as in jazz or classical or any genre with musicians that love their craft"
On Ostrov2018's review of Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk
"“Competently” produced. Such a lowball of a word. It’s borderline virtuosic"
On ciruelman's review of Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
"This isnt even 80s inspired. It’s end lf 60s/70s soft rock If you cant listen to music slower than 100 bpm, then come on"
On mcpase's review of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Flight b741
"They absolutely do have specialities. Some of the genres they try work way better than others But just as every band has a “thing”, their willingness to explore is their thing. And every new album sounds very unique for the genre it’s emulating The vocals and fuzz really don’t sound like any other blues rock album, it has a very strong king gizz sound Coming from a person that finds this album mid. I just dont think it’s cause the cant dig deep"

On Screen_Coral's review of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Phantom Island
"They’ve gone for multiple sounds so every new one is a cool suprise And the song isnt that normal. It’s not the most unique song but it’s like progressive rock/pop and i couldnt exactly name another song that sounds like it. Just different influences"
On Tylingo's review of Van der Graaf Generator - Godbluff
"I get what you mean but the album has great melodies, chords and grooves The main appeal is really the vibes it gives off. The band is the best example lf theatrical sinister music. It’s dark in a very british way What makes it harder to listen to is the lack of structure. It doesnt progress or go anywhere specific, different parts just happen and that can turn off some people. But i seriously recommend focusing on the vocal melodies and dark sounds"
On Butter_Boy232's review of Genesis - Duke
"Cul de sac isnt pop either. But i get not enjoying the song But 99% of this album isnt really standard pop. It’s mostly progressive pop and the instrumentation is pretty complex. It just has less instrumental sections, but it isnt any simpler than wind and wuthering Pls watch the duke tour live at lyceum, it’s their best live show and it’s proggy af"
