Mascara - Going Postal
90

I absolutely loved “Cameo Blue Estate”, “Innervisions” was my 2nd most played song of 2025. So going into this project, I was super excited. I’m mildly disappointed that interludes make up 1/3 of the tracklist, but theres still some great songs on Mascara’s debut LP. “Marrow” may overtake “Innervisions” as my favorite song by them. Its so beautiful and seductive. I’d love to hear more of that in future releases.

Tiffany Day - HALO
95

I feel like this would be much more appreciated if it was released a year or two earlier. With the electropop/electroclash scene being conquered by artists such as Ninajirachi & Underscores, this album gets overshadowed by them. Which is a shame because there are genuinely some very well produced & written songs on this album. Tiffany gets very vulnerable in her lyrics here. Intrigued to hear more.

Maruja - Pain to Power
100

Bro is going absolutely bonkers on the saxophone. The album itself can be a bit one note after awhile, but Maruja has created the sound of the revolution. A modern post-rock masterpiece.

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
95

The fall off in the ladder half is slightly noticeable, but Slayyyter still manages to dish out high quality tracks. Its undeniable how insane this album starts, with “DANCE…” having one of the best synth build-ups I’ve ever heard, and then the super high octane “CRANK”.

I am feeling gay off that tequila.

underscores - U
100

Some of the catchiest songs I’ve heard. On first listen I couldn’t get “Lovefield” out of my head, and I still can’t. Phenomenal songwriting and production from April. One of the biggest talents in hyperpop right now.

$uicideboy$ - THY WILL BE DONE
95

Merry Christmas to G59.

Much like "THY KINGDOM COME", this album goes in many directions. You get some of that southern twang in tracks like "2009 Reggie Bush" and "Angel Grove", and then they show no mercy on "Leviticus" and "Hypernormalisation". It also won't go down as one of my favorite projects, as I think "BLOODSWEAT" carries on too long, and the aforementioned "Angel Grove" sounds too similar to "2009 Reggie ... read more

My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
100

(EDITED: 90 -> 100)

So, I saw this entire album performed live in-person. I don't know if that affected my score to increase, but listening back on it, this thing is an absolute masterpiece. Powerful to the core. The heavy hitting introduction of "The End." and "Dead!", to tear-jerkers like "I Don't Love You" and "Cancer", to the powerful closers of "Disenchanted" and "Famous Last Words", this is the blueprint for ... read more

Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer
100

One of the most fun listening experiences of the year! We are 100% doing Complextro in the big 2025.

$uicideboy$ - THY KINGDOM COME
95

Another strong effort from one of my favorite artists ever. I wouldn't put it up there with some of my favorite releases from them, but this still has some extremely strong areas. "Napoleon" is a certified classic, and both collabs don't disappoint one bit. (Hot Take: Carried Away > Now and at the Hour)

This album goes in many different directions which keeps you engaged as well. "Napoleon" is bouncy, "Chain Breaker" is a rage banger, "Carried ... read more

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
100

I'm in absolute awe.

"Vanisher, Horizon Scraper" is not only my favorite album of the year so far, but it is by far one of the most impressive works I've ever heard. From where Quadeca started in music, to what is going on in this album, is second to none. An incredible turnaround.

Very few albums have succeeded in creating a universe that immerses the listener completely, and even has a cinematic piece to compliment it. "Vanisher" checks all the boxes to be put ... read more

Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
95

While top-heavy, and obsessed with amp-feedback outros, "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" is a cornerstone of Emo music, and lyrically & instrumentally exceeds expectations.

Skrillex - F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3
100

This might be the best thing to happen to EDM in a VERY long time. Skrillex once again releases what will be a pioneering force in the genre for many years, with unique ideas from the vault that have aged like fine wine. A true treat for the OG fans like myself, and also a gateway for the new breed.

Sorority Noise - Joy, Departed
100

God I fucking love sad whiny emo music.

Jaron Steele - LIGHTYEARS
90

In 2022, Jaron released "it's hard to see color [When You're So Impossibly Far Away*]", which has become not only one of my favorite EDM projects, but one of my favorite albums ever. Given that Jaron has created one of my top favorite albums of all time for his debut, I had high expectations for "LIGHTYEARS".

With this album, Jaron went outside of the box, grabbing influences of Hyperpop and bringing along some of the elements from his previous album that made it ... read more

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children
100

A cornerstone of IDM, and one of the best adventures through music, Boards of Canada creates a blueprint for downtempo music. The samples used are perfect, and the ambience this album creates cannot be replicated.

"If you can be told what you can see or read
Then it follows that you can be told what to say or think
Defend your constitutionally protected rights
No one else will do it for you"

Sorority Noise - Forgettable

SO I DROVE HOME, AT A HUNDRED MILES AN HOUR. JUST TO SEE WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO FLYYYYYYYYYY.

AND I CRASHED MY CAR, INTO SOMEONE ELSES BACKYARD. JUST TO SEE WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO DIEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Kendrick Lamar - GNX
95

An album Kendrick fans didn't know they wanted, but needed.

"This is not for lyricist" is stated in the very first song "wacced out murals", and he's correct on that. This is a fun & vibey west coast album, a back-to-the-roots feel from Kendrick. "squabble up" can be up for one of his best songs, and "reincarnated" still gives us some introspection. "gnx" is the common denominator on this album, the Peysoh feature is very ... read more

Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk
100

Yeah yeah, I finally got around to listening to damn near everyones favorite album of 2024. I’ve been circling it & dancing around it and I finally listened to it…

Holy shit was I missing out…

A Synth-Pop Masterpiece. Reminds you of MGMT, Sweet Trip, and Animal Collective, all throughout this album. The soundscape is incredible. “Death & Romance” is definitely a song of the year contender for me, and the seamless sequence from that into “Fear, ... read more

Greasy filthy handjobs in truck stop restrooms

Hot Carling, I turned that into a verb.. I hope you appreciate it

It's the school where you go to learn how to butt-fuck
It's in England. They don't have blowjobs there because they're uncircumcised, and that is just disgusting

"rose in the vase as the worst song is a STEAMING HOT take, but understandable. part of me does feel like they squeezed it into the album last second & it coulda been better as a standalone single or maybe placed elsewhere on the albums track list, but nonetheless great review. i gotta do mine soon. (side note: i have a $B album rankings list if you wanna check out more of their stuff.)"
On Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
"If its similar stuff to songs on this album like Casimir Pulaski Day & John Wayne Gacy Jr, then its definitely one I’ll be checking out."
