Am i a bad geese fan for having absolutely no idea this dropped for months!?!??
Anyways, Cameron Winter, Geese’s lead singer, put out a solo project (apparently) - and it draws from the americana & country-y sounds that Geese deployed wonderfully on ‘3D Country’ and completely refigures it into a pretty emotional, folkish endeavour into the weird and wonderful mind of Winter. I’d also like to point out how his voice continues to shine even in this mellow ... read more
me when I’m mindlessly gazing at the sunrise sat on a cliffside under a cherry blossom tree or something
Bon Iver is back with a smoother, and calmer project in comparison to his previous efforts ‘i,i’ and ‘22, A Million’ - but still with the folktronica tendencies that made those two, particularly the latter, such great projects. It’s a culmination of all things Bon Iver, and it makes for a gorgeous album, as usual.
took nearly seven whole minutes for the saxophone to arrive
that HAS to be a world record in this scene of music
I know everyone’s saying it but what the fuck is in those pints at The Windmill
tell me after Census Designated that Jane drops THIS i’d call you delusional
I’m still not even sure what i listened to but my god did it bang
Since Issac’s departure, BC,NR have essentially morphed into a band new band - embracing folkier melodies and some of Georgia’s pop expertise.
Forever Howlong is the groups first real endeavour into this space and they do quite well. I’m honestly not blown away by any means at first listen but a nice three track run from ‘Happy Birthday’ to ‘Nancy Tries…’ is very enjoyable, while ‘Besties’ is a very cute opener - ‘Two ... read more
Panchiko’s post-deathmetal efforts have flown slightly under the radar if you ask me. ‘Failed At Math(s)’ was a great project but i think they might have topped it with their second modern day album ‘Ginkgo’.
The dream-pop-indie-rock sound is so beautifully done and it makes for such an enjoyable project. I saw these guys live just the other week and the talent is there to see. Panchiko are STILL the best at this dreamy sound.
more of a sunbather guy - for whatever reason the vocals kinda pull me away here, I’m a fan of the instrumentalism, especially on the more post-rock tracks. They’re a welcome change of pace and are very well executed
While i prefer the more poignant ‘Gigi’s Recovery’ - the bands previous release, ‘Blindness’ definitely has a charm to it. While it’s by no means a mind blowing indie rock & post punk record, The Murder Capital give us some great noisy indie-post-punk cuts amongst a handful of tracks that either lack the depth they explored on their last album or the indie charm found on tracks like ‘Born Into The Fight’.
Let’s not act like this isn’t a very solid Paris Texas EP just because it’s not MID AIR shall we?
Squid are back !
They’re a group I’ve been following since their first release and it’s really cool to see their artistic journey. While i do definitely enjoy their previous record a little more, it’s not to say that Cowards isn’t a very well built album of art rock, post punk, post rock and krautrock all spiralling into one whirlpool of punchy, anxious and potent music. My main criticism is that, for me, i felt it lack a little bit of depth and substance. With a ... read more
