This is what I wish my own songs sounded like. Yvette Young was the main reason that I got into math rock and midwest emo. Not a whole lot to say about this album apart from the fact that it is just a really uplifting and inspirational instrumental album. The cover art is so fucking good as well.
best song is easily Lovespell that song is an absolute work of art.
I feel like Biffy are one of those bands that are just alright. There aren't amazing and they aren't awful they are just alright.
The only other album that I have heard from Biffy is Only Revolutionsand I think that this album has better production but Only Revolutions has a more consistant track list. There are some great songs on here but at the same time there are some real stinkers and songs that just make me roll my eyes.
Not really too much to say on this one though its just ... read more
This shit fucking bangs. Ghost of Perdition alone makes this album at least an 8 but this whole album is fucking amazing. The only reason why this album isn't a 10 is because Atonement is kinda boring. Apart from that this album is perfect. The production on this is flawless and I would go as far as to say that this is one of the best sounding metal albums I have ever heard. That is also an amazing album cover.
Fav songs are Ghost of Perdition, The Baying of the Hounds and The Grand ... read more
I came back to this record after quickly dismissing it about 2 years ago. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first time but there are still a couple of issues with it. The first is the fact that I feel like the album doesn't know if it wants to be taken seriously or not. Songs like Chop Suey, Forest and Aerials feel very serious and then there are others like Needles and Bounce that don't feel serious at all. If you are going to do an album that is this type of music you need to decide ... read more
This album was a bit of a grower for me because I wasn't a huge fan of it the first time I listened to it. I gave it a bit of time and I'm glad I did because this album is so fucking good. While I still think that Dark Side is a better album experience, This album has potentially two of the best songs ever written on it being Shine On and the title track.
This is absolutely one of the best albums ever made I just personally prefer Dark Side but please listen to them both. Trust me you ... read more
I'm not a huge fan of Hip Hop music in all honesty but this album is a fucking masterpiece. I am also not a huge lyric person either but I still love this album so that should tell you everything.
The thing that I love most about this album is how catchy and good all of the hooks are. This makes it easy to enjoy this album for a casual listener who isn't following along with the story and is just looking for some bangers.
The story that this Kendrick is telling is done flawlessly and ... read more
Honestly this was way better than I thought it was gonna be. It is still a bit cringe and questionable lyric wise at some points but it is overall a pretty solid modern pop record.
R.I.P my fucking GOAT
I have always been a bigger fan of the Zakk Wylde era because that is the era that I was raised on but I am so glad that I went back to some of the earlier stuff because this album fucking slaps.
The title tack alone makes this album and 85+ and everything else is just kind of a bonus. Over The Mountain and Flying High again also go very hard.
One thing that I did find very suprising was how good the production on this album is. Some of the metal from this era I have ... read more
This band is actually unable to make bad music I swear.
While I don't think this stands toe to toe with the 2 best Gojira albums it is probably the most well known and important in their whole discography. This was the album that turned them into one of the biggest metal bands in the world and my god wasn't that a gift to us all because these guys created some of the best metal ever.
This album is not as savagely heavy as the ones that came before it and serves as a good entry into ... read more
Nah sorry another hot take but this shit is horrific. I have been a metalhead for my whole life and have heard the most extreme extremes of metal so barely anything comes as a suprise to me but holy shit what the fuck is up with basically everything on here? The vocals are actually insufferable and the mix is painfully thin and messy.
This is just another album that I can't bring myself to enjoy no matter how much I try.
So my prediction for my AOTY was way off because I thought it would be the new Ethel Cain but I actually love this album.
My introduction of Laufey was Everything I Know About Love. I thought that it was alright but nothing spectacular so when I saw that this album had come out I went into it expecting more of the same. While all of the songs still feel like Laufey everything was done infinitely better than EIKAL. All of the songs are way more catchy and memorable and this album is just feels ... read more
I'm so sorry but this is one of those albums that I have never been able to enjoy even though I really want to. I will not deny that Kevin is a musical genius because he is but the main problem with this for me is the vocals. I really don't like Kevin's singing voice very much and I feel like I would enjoy this way more if it was an instrumental album. That is honestly my only big complaint about this project but they just ruin it completely for me.
Lets talk about the ... read more
I've had some time to fully form an opinion on this album and my conclusion is that it is not as good as Preacher's Daughter but it is still an amazing album.
This is an album that requires you to be patient because lots of the tracks are very slow and dare I say there is quite a bit of filler on here. Like sorry but Willoughby's interlude does not need to be 7 minutes. This is a slow but rewarding album because holy fuck the last two tracks are two of the best songs I have ever ... read more
A serious contender for the best videogame soundtrack ever. I know that Nintendo sucks as a company but man they never miss when it comes to the music in their games.
This soundtrack will always have a special place in my heart and not just because of how amazing it is but it is because Super Mario Galaxy was actually the first videogame I ever played and one of my earliest childhood memories was playing this game with my Dad. It wasn't until years later when I realised how good this ... read more
This is a fantastic debut album. You can really tell that this was a cheaply made album but that is part of what makes it great for me. Yes the newer stuff is produced and performed way better but there is just something very genuine and personal about this album.
This album is far from perfect and you can tell that both Billie and FINNEAS were still finding their sound and experimenting quite a bit. some experiments worked very well and others didn't but that does't take away from ... read more
This is one of the only albums that has ever made me stop and ask myself what the fuck I am actually listening to. This is one of those things that I really fell like I shouldn't like and I have know clue why I actually like it.
I have no idea what Fantano is talking about when he says that the mixing on this album is bad. I see nothing wrong with the production on here and everything is always very clear dispite the intensity and madness of the music itself.
From a musicians perspective ... read more
He did indeed "Make Me Cry"
This is just futher proof that early Pearl Jam was peak grunge. The fact that Yellow Ledbetter was left off of Ten is a testament to how good that record was. They left off one of if not their best songs and it is still the best grunge album ever.
I simultaneously know all the lyrics and none of the lyrics to Ledbetter. Like what the fuck is Eddie even saying.
This album feels like a warm hug in a weird way. I had listened to this album once before but then I had a very emotional day and needed to have a period of self reflection and decided to put on this album again. I sat and listened to this whole thing while staring out of my window in the middle of the night. I was three songs in and this album had already fucking broken me but in the best way.
What I am trying to say is this album is meant to be listened to in a very specific situation to be ... read more
My third favorite Iron Maiden album.
Somewhere In Time has a more stacked track list but this album is damn close. This one also features a top 3 Iron Maiden song for me being Infinite Dreams. I don't know why but that songs goes so hard.
I think that the vibe of Somewhere in Time is is much better than this album because it captures that frantic and futuristic sound so well. This album is little bit more slow and proggy and some of the songs take a little while to get to the point when ... read more
Edit: This album is now a must hear which makes me so happy
New review to pay tribute to the prince of fucking darkness.
This is the best of Ozzy's solo albums and that is mostly thanks to Zakk Wylde's amazing guitar work. I may be biased because I am a guitar player myself and this is one of the albums that built the foundation of my playing style but there is no denying that Zakk's playing on this album is top notch.
There are four crown jewel tracks on this album for me and ... read more
