Holy Fuck
This album made my jaw hit the floor with how stupidly heavy it is in the same way that Knocked Loose did. This album and the new K L album are what I consider to be the gold standard for modern metal. This is an incredible experience and is as beautiful as it is brutal.
Production wise this album is amazing. Everything has so much impact but they know when is the correct time to scale it back. For example the clean vocals have a very angelic sound to them which adds to the impact ... read more
There are a few bangers but overall this is a bit of a snoozefest. It sucks because I went into this wanting to really like it. The few songs that I had heard from them before listening to this album were all amazing which is why I was very disappointed with this album. It's also is not mastered particually well because all of the songs are wildly different in volume and it is very jarring. This is supprising to me considering it was produced by the same guy who produced VS by Pearl Jam ... read more
This is one of those albums that everyone should listen to at least once before they die. This is a perfect psychedelic rock experience and dispite its age it still holds up.
One of the things that makes a concept album great for me is being able to listen to the songs outside the context of the album and them still feel like good and completed songs and this album of full of those.
This album features Time which has one of the best guitar solos ever written, The Great Gig In The Sky which is ... read more
This album is Scottish as fuck.
My introduction to this band was when the headlined the download festival. When I watched their set I was very quick to dismiss them for not being a metal band but headlining a metal festival. That was a few years ago and I have changed since then so I decided to watch their set a Glastonbury this year and actually really liked it so I decided to listen to an album.
There are some fucking bangers on here but there are also a couple stinkers. Luckily the bangers ... read more
I'm in two minds about this project because the songs fucking slap but the production is very all over the place. It suffers with the same issue that Elephant did for me which is that lots of the songs sound like random demos that somehow made it onto the record. I think that this is something that I will just need to accept when it comes to Jack's music because I've now listened to 2 different albums that were released almost 20 years apart and I have the same issue with both of ... read more
The hate for this album is really forced. Like come on guys its really not that bad. In fact I think it is actually a really good album. I'm not saying that it is the best thing ever created but this album slaps and you all know it. I kinda get the disliking for Scott's vocals but that is the only thing that is even remotely wrong with this project apart from the album cover because I will agree that shit is ass.
Fav songs are Bullets and Hide.
One of the best metal albums ever created.
The is probably Maiden's most famous and most universally loved album. It is filled with many of Maiden's classic songs and Hallowed Be Thy Name is an actual masterpiece. This is the album that I would recommend to people who have never heard any of the band's music before and I would also consider this to be a great place to start for people who want to get into metal music.
While this isn't really heavy at all by today's ... read more
This may be a hot take but I think that half of this album is great and half of it is just kinda eh to me. Luckily the stuff that is good is very good.
Something I will say that isn't a hot take is that the production on this album is perfect. I have always loved the close, quiet and intimate sounding production style of albums like Charm by Clairo and WWAFAWDWG by Billie Eilish but this album is probably the best that it has ever been done.
As far as the songs themselves go, I don't ... read more
To me this is one of those albums where the songs aren't overly distinct but they all do a good job in coming together to create this mesmerising experience.
This is one of the best sounding albums that I have ever heard. The production on this album is just mindblowing and sounds downright ethereal. This shit is like the soundtrack to drifting though the ocean and listening to this late at night in the dark hits different.
I know it is the normie pick but Andromeda is one of the most ... read more
Edit: I take back what I said about this being so ass it's fire. Upon a revisiting this album I can confirm it is so fucking good it's just very strange which is what I was trying to say in my original review.
This is one of those records that I don't know if it is actually fire or so ass that it's fire. I fuck with it either way though.
This album is very all over the place genre wise and there will be lots of wtf moments on your first listen but everything that is done ... read more
This was mid sorry
like why did they go all British like wtf you are Australian
there is a run of songs in the middle that are painfully unengaging and after that this record just lost me
Shouty British men saying random bullshit over music made by a techno mastermind for 56 minutes (feat. a crab)
i dunno i expected to like this more than I did. It's just alright i guess.
As good if not better than the recordings on the original album. Both her vocals and guitar playing are peak in this performance and the band behind her are also very tight.
This performance has given me a new appreciation for how good the Surgeon riff is.
An atmospheric masterpiece. The most important part of music for me is the production and overall sound of it and this is one of the the greatest sounding albums I have ever heard in my life. Everything about the mix of this album is perfect and whenever I listen to this album it takes me to another fucking planet.
In terms of the music itself it is very dark and very gothic. Peter Steele's voice is one of the most amazing I have heard in all of metal and it fits the sound of the music so ... read more
I should like this way more than I do. I love prog but this album just doesn't do much for me. It sounds great, the level of skill of the musicians is off the scale but it all got a little stale towards the end.
One of my main problems with this is that it feels bolted together at some points. I recently listened to Blackwater Park by Opeth and that album just felt so complete and everything that was there was there for a reason and I just don't feel that with this album for some ... read more
A nice little bonus to tag on the end of MASSEDUCTION.
Lots of these songs work very well as solo piano songs and some don't work so well but it doesn't matter that much because this is just an extra thing that she did during the album cycle for MASSEDUCTION. Some of my favorite songs on the original albums were the slower songs so this was a real treat.
To conclude I think that I would always prefer to listen to the original album but I will come back to this for a chill late night ... read more
