Eminem - Kamikaze
45

Seriously this album feels like Eminem having a debate with himself about what he deems as real hip hop and attempting to deflect criticism by insulting people, both critics, other artists and his own fans who had problems with his last release. But when you strip all of that bullshit away you're left with is one of the best produced Eminem album, with solid lyricism, great guest performances, quite a lot of filler which is a tough thing to say about an Eminem album nowadays ( Except for the ... read more

Eminem - Revival
5

Revival is Eminem’s worst album in my opinion, truly corny and one of the worst attempts at a comeback from a bad album. Like we get it Eminem you’re angry people rightfully hated your trash album, anyways.

Yeah this album booty but honestly got a few top tier tracks. Framed is a lot of fun and should’ve been what the whole album sounded like. I think the last 3 tracks are all actually top tier Eminem tracks, and I actually like the intro “walk on water”. Those 5 ... read more

Kanye West - The College Dropout
85

Straight away, you can tell that this ain't going to be a super serious, moody album. Having that Kanye charm sprinkled in with that 'chipmunk' sampling throughout. Which brings up my next point, Kanye's mixing and composition is excellent and so unique. Standing out as being wacky and simply enjoyable to listen to. Complimenting his smooth, subtle vocals that flow aside the beat.

Before this release, Kanye was profound for his experience in mixing and producing beats for other artists. This ... read more

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
90

This album is one of the best Kanye albums that I have listened to so far. Let me reiterate, one of the best KANYE albums. Not of all time. I've reiterated because I think that this isn't even close to the best album of all time. I don't even think it's Kanye's best, to be perfectly honest (it is up there though). But the fact that it's damn near perfect just goes to show what an amazing artist Kanye is. Even if it is a cliché to say it, Kanye is one of my favorite artists of all time. ... read more

Kanye West - Late Registration
75

Late Registration is in my opinion the weakest of Kanye’s original 3 studio albums. It doesn’t have the experimentation of The College Dropout with the creation of Chipmunk Soul, or the futuristic and developing sound of Graduation. Late Registration still retains the idea of soul samples from Kanye but it feels much more of a warmer darker tone as TCD had more of a bright production style. The album starts off with a skit following the previous narrative of TCD of school. I feel ... read more

Kanye West - Graduation
100

"Graduation," Kanye's third album, is his most anthemic and most stadium-chanting. Taking a step back from the dustier sound of his last two albums and an even bigger step from his jazz-fused second album, this record utilizes more electronic sounds, more creative and in your face sampling, and even some newer effects like autotune.

"Good Morning" remains a top tier Kanye into. The larger-than-life, yet somehow lowkey beat mixed with a sample of Elton John's "Someone ... read more

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak
75

808s serves as a landmark. Not only in Mr Wests discography but also in the culture of hip hop. The album paved the way for the majority of the autotune crooners and melodic rappers of the last decade. Before 808s, rappers were just rapping, and not singing or adding their own harmonies to their music. This album fundamentally changed the landscape of hip hop and music in general.

While Kanye is credited for making this move, we have to give props to Cudi for also inspiring this sound, as well ... read more

Kanye West - Yeezus
60

Everything about this album felt all over the place. Both the beats for the songs and the tracks themselves feel kind of placed there, without any established tone. I really don’t have too much to say about this album other than it’s definitely not his best work.

60

I wanted to like this, but it’s got so much album filler. It’s well produced which is usual for a Kanye album but it’s just extremely messy and so inconsistent. I mean what is ‘Pt. 2’, it’s basically just promoting Desiigner when he used to be under G.O.O.D music. ‘30 Hours’ also didn’t need the entire outro, the beginning was so good.

The good songs on this album are bangers for sure but there was just a large percentage of forgettable ... read more

Kanye West - ye
70

Around the time of this album’s release Kanye was swimming through one of the most controversial times of his career to date, with the Donald Trump hats and the interview outbursts that created a highly hostile public distaste towards him. In the midst of this self-created chaos, he created a set of 5 ‘Wyoming Projects’, producing albums for other artists such as Pusha T and Nas, as well as two releases of his own. One of these records is the self-titled ‘Ye’, an ... read more

Kanye West - JESUS IS KING
30

Kanye West’s heavily church gospel-influenced album is nothing more than an upset. I personally found this project uninteresting and more prolonged than necessary. There was no MBDTF effect, where the unnecessary, corny and unimaginative lyrics are alleviated by the superiority of production. In fact, Kanye steps down from his usual production to release his blandest and simplest beats/samples. Kanye’s own verses are prevalently prosaic, and usually the use of features can save this ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
100

Looking back on his discography, Tyler has come a long way as an
artist, and it's clear that Igor is by far his best album and the pinnacle of his career, proving just how much production skill and raw musicianship he really has. The way he blends old-school soul
samples, lofi drums, and lush, colorful synth patterns is masterful, and brings a cohesive, wholly unique sound to the
table. He still manages to work in some bangers, too ("NEW MAGIC WAND" and "WHAT'S GOOD" are ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy
85

Tyler's most personal album
Tyler's biggest leap as an artist was Wolf to Cherry Bomb, but Flower Boy might just be his most essential artistic step up, as it takes the best parts of Cherry Bomb and makes them a cohesive and beautiful album. The production on here is stunningly genre-bending and smooth. You can get so lost in these instrumentals it's crazy. Every sound is special, the mixing is beautiful and it never gets boring.
Tyler's lyrics are heartfelt, personal and not cryptic at all. He ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST
75

Getting a new album from Tyler, the Creator just two years after "IGOR" felt a bit weird to me. How could he follow up such a passionate and refined statement so quickly? Could his sound have evolved already? Would this just be "IGOR" leftovers? After just one listen, "CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST" crushed all of my doubts and made me realize how Tyler is simply a generational artist.

While this project fits well within Tyler's sound, it still explores new styles and ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
85

KENDRICK IS NOT YOUR SAVIOUR! And he shouldn’t be. This project was a look inside the human side of what Kendrick wants to be perceived as, not the godly, sage-like figure we viewed him as on TPAB. And I think a project like this is much needed despite reports of writer’s block and all these rumors of a rock-based album and whatnot. I wanted to let this album sit for a but and I gave it dozens of listens over the past few weeks since its release. This was something that means so ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
90

DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar had a lot of ground to cover it being the follow up to award winning album To Pimp A Butterfly. While many believe the album isn’t close to the status of its predecessor I beg to differ. DAMN. isn’t the most aggressive we’ve seen Kendrick although there is some aggressive tracks such as DNA and HUMBLE. This album is a mix of emotions one has growing up and the evolution of fears experienced while growing older. My favorite track on this album is ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
95

When I First Listened to This It was my first dive into Kendrick Lamar’s music after putting his music off for months. I told myself the first Kendrick album I’ll listen to is TPAB but I decided to go for this album since people say it’s a more enjoyable listen. I don’t regret my decision whatsoever, this is such a perfect album in every way possible. Every track, every song all plays it's role beautifully in the telling of K. Dot's story.

The concept of this album is ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
70

Section.80 may not be the beautifully produced, consciously astounding masterpiece that is To Pimp a Butterfly, or the articulately told story that is Good Kid M.A.A.D City, but it still has a place in hip hop as a fun album with some excellent songwriting and fun beats. Section.80 has some gems, like A.D.H.D, Keisha's Song, and HiiiPower. Overall, this isn't an Amazing record, and doesn't hold a candle to Lamar's other work, but it's still Great enough to not drag down his discography in any ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

Amidst the shooting of Trayvon Martin in 2012, the political landscape became more tense in the United States. Police brutality against African Americans was becoming more prominent and the emergence of Black Lives Matter gained much support across the States. “Alright” became the anthem for Black Lives Matter: a politically charged protest song which resembled those who needed it the most. Though when Lamar performed the song at the BET Awards in 2015, it garnered controversy as he ... read more
