I thought this sounded like Imagine Dragons way too often listening to this, and it felt like ADTR were using swear words just to sound edgy. All the nope for this.
I dunno.
I really like it. I have no idea why. I had no idea why I liked the originals. Some things just can't be explained.
I re-rated this up to a 90 because whilst I thought it was good originally, I have kept coming back to this album over and over again just for a casual listen and that's a great thing.
Individually the songs are... Fine I guess?
What the fuck is the idea behind making every change of song sound completely different though? There's no flow to this and it completely threw me out every time.
*sigh
There's nothing groundbreaking or genre changing here but DAMN it's catchy as hell and sometimes that's all you need.
I listened to Fulton Street I 7 times in a row before it registered that I'd lost myself in that song quite so much. That's how good it is!
It's not that it's a bad album. It's that I went and mixed some of Led Zeppelin's and Greta Van Fleet's tracks together in a playlist and then couldn't tell them apart unless I was really paying attention.
There's ripping off a sound, and then there's Greta Van Fleet.
Ok this is the thing. I loved early Disturbed albums and I always end up hoping they find that sort of form again.
The problem is that they clearly hopped on the hype bandwagon that their cover of "The Sound of Silence" got them and decided that they needed to throw in more ballads and softer sounding songs in the mix and as a result this album is trash.
The more I listen to it the better it gets. There's a lot to discover here and one listen would not give you the full picture of what Fucked Up have to offer on this record.
Not a bad album per se, there's just absolutely nothing new here to get excited about
This is the best example of a band taking what they do well, and changing it enough to challenge themselves and giving the fans something fresh. Critics will say they've gone soft, but whilst it may not be quite as ferocious as New Bermuda or well rounded as Sunbather, it's still a masterpiece.
