Surprised at how little Bowie I have reviewed even though I think that Bowie is a contender for the greatest artist oat, and on top of that the song Heroes is possibly my favorite song of all time. I love how this album feels like two different parts stitched together, the first half being a more rock centric, while the back half is almost completely instrumental. With time I could see me giving this record a perfect score because damn is this thing fire!
I have fallen down a rabbit whole of 70s Japanese music and I get back out.
I had actually first listened to this record years ago and have been fairly familiar with it, and some of the other stuff that The Microphones put out but I just never sat down and reviewed it. So, I decided to sit down a relisten to this record since it had been so long and let me say that it still slaps. It is sad, dark, and beautiful. The only thing that I don't care for are interludes.
I'm realizing now that I really do need to get into more foreign music because I will admit that it is a major blind spot for me, and of course by foreign music I mean literally anything that doesn't speak English. This album really is great though the songwriting is strong throughout, the melodies are beautiful, and the production is raw, gorgeous, and charming. Overall great record don't really have much to say other than that. GO CHECK IT OUT!
I sit here teary eyed as I write this review because this record just hit my soul man. I am normally not so quick to write reviews after listening to a record, but I just feel that this album is different. After just recently listening to F# A# infinity and being blown away by that record I think I can confidently say the Godspeed You! Black Emperor will go down as one of my new favorite bands of all time. I am normally pretty stingy to give out 10/10s to albums, let alone in such quick ... read more
I have listened to a lot of music over the past few years, and honestly, I felt that listening to music lost the spark that it used to for me. I haven't been blown away and completely immersed in an album in a long time, and I just assumed that it may stay that way, but this album proved me wrong. I had obviously heard of Godspeed before listening to this album and I had even heard a few tracks off of Antennas to Heaven, but every time I listened to them, I just couldn't really get ... read more
With a name like that your bands bound to be awesome. I need more music like this
300th rating gonna make it special! This may be my favorite live album of all time, never have I ever heard a record have so much energy. The special version of this live album is over an hour long and yet I never get board of it.
Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! To whatever you celebrate! I love this record so much. It manages to capture so much nostalgia even though I never really grew up with Charlie Brown. Just an impeccably warm feeling that this soundtrack gives to my tummy. No joke when I say that I believe that this is one of the greatest musical compositions of all time!
Give it time and I think Camerone Winters could become one of the greatest singer songwriters of this generation
could listen to this my whole fucking life... my whole fucking life
I enjoy the actual music, but man does this singer have some pretentious lyrics
Don't usually like this style of music but I really vibed with this record
