Easily their best work, and frankly one of the greatest post-hardcore albums of the 21st century
Slightly weaker than their debut, On Letting Go is still a pretty enjoyable record with a few of their best songs scattered throughout.
On their 11th album, Converge sound as urgent and angry as ever and frankly what more could you ask for from one or the greatest to ever do the heavy thing?
Honestly, this is better than I thought it'd be. Some of my absolute favorite work of his is on here.
Favorites: Chant Down Babylon, Buffalo Soldier (duh), Jump Nyabinghi, I Know
Definitely not his best, but still a very good album worth listening to
Favorites: Wake Up and Live, Survival, So Much Trouble in this World, Zimbabwe, One Drop
The first half contains some of Bob and co's absolute best work, while the second half falters slightly. Still, a very good group of songs
Favorites: Them Belly Full, Rebel Music, Talkin Blues
This mix is rawer and grittier, although the tracklist is a bit of a mess comparitively. Either way, one of the greatest reggae albums of all time right here
While I prefer the original Jamaican mixes for the raw grit, the version of Stir It Up on here is superior. And regardless of version, this one of the greatest reggae albums of all time
Their best-produced record up to this point
Favorites: Soul Shake Down Party, Caution, Do it Twice
The few great songs in the second half still aren't quite enough to make up for some of the more lackluster tunes in the first half. That being said, nothing on here is outright bad, just a bit forgettable for The Wailers
Favorites: African Herbsman, Stand Up, Brain Washing
It's honestly criminal that this album isn't more immediately available because frankly it's genuinely a great one. I just wish the songs were a bit longer
Favorites: Corner Stone, 400 Years, Reaction, My Sympathy, My Cup
Some solid tracks but not nearly consistent enough to really stick with me. Which is weird, I liked this album a lot the first time I heard it a few years ago
A pretty solid collection of reggae tunes bogged down by some very repetitive instrumentals throughout.
Favorites: The News, I'm Gonna Live Im Gonna Love
It's really interesting to see where Bob Marley and the Wailers started, considering the absolutely legendary body of work that was to follow. The performances on here are far from extraordinary but certainly carry a lot of charm. Definitely worth a listen if you're even mildly interested in reggae or ska music.
Favorites: Lonesome Feeling, I'm Still Waiting, Simmer Down, Rude Boy
While it does fall off a little in the second half, this is still among Jimmy's stronger records within his vast and unfortunately pretty inconsistent body of work
Favorites: Brother, House of Exile, Money Won't Save You
A relatively fun, albeit wildly uneven, collection of pop and reggae tunes from Jimmy Cliff
