While not as great as ….Like Clockwork or Songs for the Deaf, this is easily QOTSA’s third best album. Having a strong 3 track openers and very great bangers in between, this is by no means a bad. Although I could see someone calling this their favorite QOTSA album, I just find some tracks that are weak in comparison to songs like The Lost Art of Keeping A Secret and In the Fade.
One of the best albums and influential in the electronic space for years to come after its release in 1992. This is what a game made in the 90s-early 2000s would sound like if it was trying to be futuristic.
The songwriting and the instrumentation on the songs make this album perfect for me. Especially knowing Josh Homme was at a dark time of his life, it makes all of the lyrics and atmosphere that much darker. Queens of the Stone Age's second masterpiece.
