Tei Shi really impressed me with her debut Crawl Space. Not the biggest fan of her turn to a more commercial pop kind of sound, but there is still plenty to enjoy on the Bad Premonition EP. Have a feeling this could grow on me.
Was worried when I heard the title track but This Is Why really delivers and is probably the band's best effort yet. Thick Skull is such a great closing track.
Not very big on cover albums but Hether kind of crushes it here. Sad Songs, Dreams and My Funny Valentine are especially good.
I have to give it up to Anthony Hull and co. for still managing to innovate and expand their sound further nearly two decades into their career.
This is the first record I've heard from Caroline Polachek but it certainly won't be the last. Extremely catchy and versatile pop record. In a lot of ways she feels like a spiritual successor to Imogen Heap.
Excellent release. Wednesday really blew me away with this one. Definitely going to be catching up on their earlier albums.
More like 10,000mg of Adderall. These gecs are some mad scientists, combining anything from hyperpop and nu-metal to ska and pop punk. This shit is all over the place in the best way.
Black Thought continues to impress more than ever with these collabs. While he doesn't reach the heights of Cheat Codes here, this is an incredibly consistent and memorable hip hop record. Bound to be one of the very best records the genre has to offer this year.
Amazing shoegaze release from Softcult. A band with a lot of potential to be on the look out for.
Between Pantomime and this, it's clear that Beshken deserves a lot more attention. Excellent EP.
