In some ways, better than Life Metal. The fact that these are just practice sessions make it even more impressive. The (relatively) shorter track times make it a more digestible than Life Metal and even though they are improvisational, the drones seem a bit more focused and discernible; Frost (C) has it's chilling winds, Ampliphædes has what sound like bass melodies, etc. In the end, it's Sunn O))) doing what they do best: producing monolithic, immersive slabs of drone. Love the production, unfortunately Tyler doesn't really do anything memorable with it. Vocals are inaudible at many points since they are buried in the mix, lyrics are like something I'd find over a badly edited photo posted on tumblr, and the more the album goes on, the more and more the tracks seem to just wash together.
