Oceans Ate Alaska - Endless Hollow

As the biggest fan of this band, I am sad to see James go; however, I enjoy Joel’s performance on this track. My only critique would be that the song was very basic structurally and is missing true OAA instrumental technical elements that are evidenced in Hikari and previous works. Nonetheless, cannot wait to hear more and hopefully sooner considering the band is now independent. Let’s hope this vocalist stays for a while.

After listening to this album on repeat since its release date, I have come to a final rating for the composition as a whole as well as each song. I am pleased with the majority of the album, and although I was expecting to hear something like Antimatter which I define as a phenomenal track, the other tracks are still great. The only main critique that I have with this album is an aspect of “forgetableness” within certain songs with specific examples being Offworlder, the first half ... read more

Title track is one of the best songs ever. Enjoy the calmer songs more as opposed to the heavier ones, but this album does a good job of balancing the two well. For a while I never understood this album or the hype around it until I finally sat down and gave it a chance.

Volumes - No Sleep

This is a good album with some highlights like ‘Vahle’ and ‘Up All Night’. I just wish that more of the album sounded like those two. Further, the clean vocals sprinkled throughout should be included more. On another note, Volumes know how to do emotion right, and the messages they convey like the effects of drunk driving in ‘Vahle’ are further proof that this is a top tier band.
