man. i can feel this shit in my bones.
favorite tracks: GONE GONE / THANK YOU, NEW MAGIC WAND
giving this a respectful 3 stars because i think it achieved its goal of getting under my skin and really taking me to a place—but it's not a place I ever really want to go again. cool art, but not for me. (also, it's like, really boring to listen to).
pre-flower boy tyler is so hit or miss like how did they release some of this ass on the same album as Answer
favorite tracks: Rusty, Answer

spending time with Flower Boy feels like spending time with a good friend
favorite tracks: 911 / Mr. Lonely, Garden Shed, November

not just a victory lap, but a love letter to Compton. may not be kendrick’s most introspective record but it’s his most mature and self-assured in some ways.
favorite tracks: reincarnated, luther
least favorite: gnx
Mr. Morale just as personal as GKMC, but in a way that doesn't connect with me as a listener nearly as much. it's still impossible for Kendrick to make a bad record.
favorite tracks: Father Time, Mother I Sober, United In Grief
least favorites: Silent Hill, Crown
DAMN. isn't as singularly focused as gkmc or tbap, but an introspective look at Kendrick's faith and a broader look at the state of America post TBAP and Trump 1.0 make it feel nearly as cohesive, even if it doesn't reach the same impossibly high standard for song quality. the high points are just as high, though.
favorite tracks: FEAR., DUCKWORTH., XXX.

When shit hits the fan...
favorite tracks: Wesley's Theory, u, King Kunta, The Blacker the Berry
least favorite: You Ain't Gotta Lie (Momma Said)
writing at length about gkmc is way too daunting a task for me... but i think we have to hit a point where this is just considered one of the greatest pieces of art ever created—full stop.
favorite tracks: The Art Of Peer Pressure, Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst, m.A.A.d city
a lot of sounds, especially hooks and features, did not age well. but Kendrick basically stopped missing rap-wise here.
favorite track: A.D.H.D.
least favorite: No Make Up (Her Voice)
focused and consistent and quintessentially Weezery
favorite tracks: Endless Bummer, Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori
least favorite: Thank God for Girls
consistent throughout, ends on a very high note
favorite tracks: The Futurescope Trilogy
least favorite track: Lonely Girl
Michael Jordan is a great song everyone else is just wrong. Quality falls off in the back half but this project is better than I remembered it.
favorite tracks: Michael Jordan, P&P 1.5, Opposites Attract (Tomorrow Without Her)
least favorite: Cut You Off (To Grow Closer), H.O.C.
i find the stories around rivers fighting with people on forums that were giving him feedback on the demos infinitely more interesting than Maladroit itself—which isn't bad but never stays in my mind for more than a few minutes after listening. Except Burndt Jamb...
favorite track: Burndt Jamb
least favorite: Fall Together
listening to the Green Album is kind of like eating celery
favorite track: Island In the Sun

Weezer is both perfectly understood and completely misunderstood at the same time, and Blue Album is Weezer at their most Weezerest.
