A very messy project. Some interesting ideas but none of the songs feel fully fledged out. Lots of potential though.
Arguably the best rap record this year, Pusha and Malice were ON IT. Pharrell’s production was great, and the feature choices were immaculate. There were a few points where I was a little lulled but there was so much quality here it doesn’t even matter.
Blush sees Kevin Abstract taking a bit of a backseat on his own record, but the collaborations are colorful and quality. The mix of vibes and genres almost gives it a mixtape feel, while remaining cohesive. Pretty great.

Midwxst is an artist I have LOVED for years. His punchy hyperpoppy beats and melodramatic songwriting has always been something I have loved. When you take away the cool production and replace it with incredibly bland production, what usually sounds like an intense, vulnerable, emotional dump turns into what sounds like an autotuned tantrum.
This hurts me to rate it this low. I love Midwxst. Ultimately I had the same issue with his last full length LP. I know he is evolving, but this flavor of ... read more
Incredibly underrated. This EP has solidified Voda as one of the more consistent artists of the underground. Two cups is a 10/10. Witty bars over eerie sleepy beats is something I didn’t know I needed. His cadence and flows are also super cold. Rooting for this guy heavy.

Shoegaze meets digicore. An explosive experimental and loud blend of sounds with some good song writing. Some of the different directions this project went didn’t sit right in my ears, but I can certainly respect what kmoe was going for. Overall a very cool project from one of the founding fathers of 2020s digicore that showcases some drastic evolution.

Witty, fun, unique. Wasn’t a fan of the huge interlude in the middle with all the little bits from tv shows and stuff but I get what he was trying to do. I wasn’t a huge fan of his voice either but I thought the production and vibe that was captured greatly shined through.

Travis Scott’s pop off record, is a staple in trap music. Wavy, psychedelic, and trippy, the production on this record is influential. The rapping and narrative is pretty great too. While there were some lulls in the action near the middle of the record, I really enjoyed this.

With production ranging from smooth and funky, to rage style opium beats, Dopamines variety doesn’t do much other than flex some production chops in a way that is unconvincing. It has some head boppers and bangers. I enjoyed at least 40% of the tracklist, but the autotune is too heavy much of the time, the transitions feel unnatural and forced, the “dopamine fm” bits get annoying, the mixing felt wacky on some tracks, and ultimately I felt pretty unsatisfied.

As someone who is completely new to Turnstile and their music, this record sounded toothless. It felt similar to sleep token for me. The aggressive screamy shouty stuff was not convincing to me much of the time, and the “metal” break downs sounded void of anything. I don’t care for the guys voice either.
It had a few cool moments. I really liked dull, and sunshower. Other songs I liked were ruined by underwhelming often melodramatic song writing, or super repetitive mind ... read more
This whole album feels like if YouTube poops we’re from the 80s in a good way. It’s funny, witty, and loud.
While I didn’t find much that I would listen to on a regular basis, it was certainly an experience
