Rating Songs That Appear on Lyrical Lemonade! :)
July 17th- 'Tell Me Why' was the second single to The Kid LAROI's debut mixtape. I thought the single did a decent job at paying respects to The Kid LAROI's friend and mentor, Juice WRLD. The video was very basic, which was unusual for a Lyrical Lemonade video, but it might've been because of the topic of the song.
July 24th- 'Burn The Hoods' was a single released by Ski Mask The Slump God and he mentioned that it hasn't been decided if this will make any of his upcoming projects. I thought the song had a wonderful flow while discussing politics. The video was quite controversial with Lyrical Lemonade choosing to incorporate Ku Klux Klan, which is a historic racist group in America (according to Genius).
August 14th- 'Lemonade' was the lead single to Internet Money's debut album. I thought that the song was extremely refreshing and to my delight, the song did spectacular on the charts, stunning many in the process. The video was very underwhelming with Lyrical Lemonade not adding much to the song other than exposure as the music video was speculated to be filmed on short notice
Current Billboard Hot 100 Position: 21/100
August 28th- 'Gifted' is speculated to be the first single to Cordae's upcoming project. I thought that the song was a fantastic first collaboration between the two XXL Freshmen 2019 members. The video was basic but beautiful with Lyrical Lemonade including streets of a neighborhood and high-class cars.
September 11th- 'On God' was part of Mulatto's mixtape that had dropped a few days before the music video. I thought the song was really bad, being basic and really repetitive as she rapped about sex to no one's surprise. The music video was colorful and had a lot of fun moments, making me kind of enjoy the song, especially a lot more than I did without the music video.
Song Rating: 30/100
September 18th- 'Dolly' was a highly-anticipated track that dropped along with Lil Tecca's debut album. The song was unfortunately super underwhelming with it leaving a lot to be desired compared to the leaked version. The music video was awkward, although Lil Uzi Vert's wonderful, fun presence on the video was fantastic to see.
Song Rating: 80/100
September 24th- 'Revenge' was the lead single to $not's sophomore album. The song was NOT what I was expecting being especially boring because of $not's delivery. The music video was violent, spreading messages that I'm sure that Lyrical Lemonade didn't mean to send, although the school shooting theme surely should've been avoided anyways.
October 16th- 'Mean' was the second single to $not's sophomore album. The song was significantly better than the lead single, probably because of Flo Milli's fantastic feature that had lovely energy, something that $not's style was lacking. The music video continued where 'Revenge' finished which was really interesting as I don't think Lyrical Lemonade has done that before.
October 23rd- 'SO DONE' was the lead single to SAVAGE which served as the deluxe for The Kid LAROI's debut mixtape. The song was stunning as it went to have super good mainstream success with lyrics that are easy to connect to, although it was hated and called cringe by many. The music video was cool with LAROI incorporating Juice WRLD's cab from 'Robbery' into the video while rocking a hilarious hairstyle.
Current Billboard Hot 100 Position: 87/100
November 13th- 'Lost Ones' was released as a single to celebrate our lost ones, with Daniyel doing it personally for his aunt who died from cancer. I thought this song was lovely as it contained an outstanding message that really moved me as a person, interesting me in Daniyel's past music which was decent (highly suggest taking a listen). The video was devastating and contained many people who had lost their loved ones in tragic ways.
November 27th- 'What To Do' was released as a single to get Danny Towers some exposure before DJ Scheme dropped his debut album, 'FAMILY', which contained many Danny Towers features. The song was weird in a wonderful way because Danny Towers shows the extent of his variety in the form of excellent singing, along with lyrics that'll help you pass time when you're bored. The video matched the unique theme with some magnificent imagery being shown along with a surprise appearance from who I assume was DJ Scheme.
December 17th- 'Coco' was the second single to 24kGoldn's upcoming debut album, dropping after his breakout hit, 'Mood', with Iann Dior. The song was fantastic and contained similar elements to what was present on the track with Iann Dior as 24kGoldn provided a great hook while DaBaby helped him out with a great verse, with song finding lower than expected results commercially even with a huge push. The video was holiday-themed as DaBaby dressed up as Santa and with 24kGoldn just chilling, showing both of them enjoying the holiday season.
December 18th- 'Gnat' was a track that surprised dropped along with Side B of Music To Be Murdered By. The song was great as Eminem talked about lockdown, using some wonderful wordplay, although the song did include some controversial lyrics. The music video wasn't as good as 'Godzilla' but was still great as it featured Eminem talking drugs and being taken to many different places as the beat changes which was cool.
Song Rating: 50/100
January 15th- 'Bad Boy' was a single that had been delayed for a while and is supposed to be the last music video that Juice WRLD recorded while alive. The song was not bad, but contained a slightly disappointing Juice WRLD performance along with an amazing Young Thug feature. The music video was very underwhelming as there didn't seem to be anything interesting going on except for the excellent choice of outfits for the video and wonderful editing, excluding the ending of the video.
Current Billboard Hot 100 Position: 22/100
February 5th- 'GNF (OKOKOK)' was the second single to Polo G's highly anticipated third album. The song did a spectacular job at hyping you up because Polo G put in a cold, vicious performance, but the song was still super underwhelming compared to the expectations I had for Polo G in 2021 which was why I didn't enjoy it, having high-energy verses with a cool, catchy chorus over a stale piano beat. The video matched the dark mood that Polo G created, using a really cool red theme for the entire video as wonderful camera angles and break-taking special effects were used.
March 19th- 'Calabasas' was a bonus track that was part of ssgkobe's debut mixtape. The song was new to what I was used to hearing from upcoming artists as ssgkobe put in an unique performance by using a slightly off-beat flow while $NOT unsurprisingly brought in a beautiful dark verse with wonderful bars. The video was slightly rushed as some shots were hard but other shots were bland, while they used small versions of ssgkobe and $NOT which I thought was spectacular while putting in a black cat which is part of ssgkobe's brand.
April 7th- 'Whipski' is speculated to be the lead single of $NOT's upcoming project. The song was wonderful as it was different compared to $NOT's usual dark style, being more melodic as $NOT put in a performance that had more emotion than normal while Lil Skies had one of his best verses in a while, which was fun and full of live, over a basic Internet Money beat that suited $NOT well. The video was amazing, being alien-themed as $NOT and Lil Skies went on many mini adventures, while Landon Cube made a cameo as he peed on a tree while they passed by in a truck.
May 3rd- 'Knock Knock' was SoFaygo's break-out single as it's part of Angelic 7. The song really grows on you, being a good track as it has a catchy chorus that really sticks to you after some time, with SoFaygo putting in a decent performance full of effort, over a really nice Lil Tecca beat, as he's got a distinct flow similar to ssgkobe. The video feels stuffy, being based on an old movie while additionally having a Lil Tecca appearance as he produced the beat for the track.
Song Rating: 75/100
May 13- 'His & Hers' was the highly anticipated track that marked the reunion of the duo, Don Toliver and Gunna, with Internet Money and is rumored to be the lead single of Internet Money's next album. The song is so fun, with the chorus being extremely catchy and euphoric, coming up to the level of 'Lemonade's chorus, while the Gunna's verse was great, way better than his verse on 'Lemonade', with Uzi being the final touch to the track, serving as the cherry on top by bringing his happiness and swag to the song. The video is very nostalgic, seeming to have a ton of work put into it as they recreated the old Windows desktop in an outstanding way and took Uzi to Pluto.
May 28- 'Tell Em' was a single dropped after all the snippets previewed went viral on Tik Tok, marking the first track between two of the hottest SoundCloud rappers, being quite an unexpected collaboration. The song capitalizes on the rage wave, with Cochise just riding the beat, not really using much of his creativity when it comes to his performance although $NOT does come up with a stunning, sadly short verse. The video was shot in short notice, right before the song dropped, with the video seeming to show both rappers having fun and getting turned up at a farm.
June 4- 'House Party' is a single by the upcoming duo, DCG BROTHERS, with both members being from Chicago, probably the reason Cole Bennett chose to work with them. DCG Shun and DCG Bsavv are very young, yet they managed to make a painfully outdated attempt at a party banger, sounding way too wacky as I found the song to be quite boring. The video fits the theme of the song perfectly, but I'm not too blown away as after all, the song is only about a house party, with Adin Ross making his debut Lyrical Lemonade appearance.
Score- 45/100
July 9- 'Motley Crew' is rumored to be the lead single to Post Malone's fourth album, leaning a lot more into his rap side than the singing style we've gotten accustomed towards over the last few years. The song just doesn't fit Post Malone as the attempt to change things up ended pretty bad, not coming close to the quality of music I've heard from him in the past as the rapper personality simply doesn't suit him, with his flow also being frustrating. The video got me pretty hyped after I watched the trailer as I noticed that it had an infinite amount of cameos, but ended up getting disappointed as there really wasn't much going on, with a bunch of random shots being taken of Post Malone and his friends getting hyped on a race track.
July 16- 'MIA' is ssgkobe's is rumored to be ssgkobe's lead single to his upcoming project. Being probably the best song on Lyrical Lemonade in 2021, ssgkobe is seen on a rage beat for the first time I believe, coming up with catchy lines over a really good Ryder beat while using flashy flows. The video manages to be equally exciting and electrifying as it's dark and thrilling, coming along with cameos from Adin Ross, Cochise, and even KA$HDAMI.
