Ew, stinky elitist metal.
Acid Bath are possibly the most hyped up underground sludge metal band (yes I know that's an oxymoron), and after all the glazing you'd see in every metal subreddit, I just had to give it a chance.
And to be honest? I get the hype. These men were able to fuse sludge metal with other genres like stoner metal, death metal, and so much more. There's also some moments like Scream of the Butterfly and The Bones of Baby Dolls which tone the volume down a bit ... read more
We went from Fallen...to this?
Sanctuary is the prime example of sheer octanecore slop that's overproduced to the moon and back, has music and lyrics that's shallower than the shore of the beach, and has a sound that's more annoying than any of the brainrot you'll find on YouTube right now.
Amy Lee has a great voice, but that means nothing when it sounds so synthetic and manipulated. Jordan Fish overproduced this album to insane levels, which makes it sound truly headache ... read more
Man, Love is Not Enough was so great, what the hell happened?!
I have genuinely never felt this bored listening to a Converge album. Hum of Hurt is their second release this year, and while I didn't quite expect it to live up to Love is Not Enough, I also didn't expect it to be this lame.
Jacob Bannon sounds bored here. Usually he's yelling his ass off with those horrendous vocals that work really, REALLY well with Converge's sound, here he's mostly speaking. Nate ... read more
This was one very weird and wild experience of an album, but it is absolutely unlike any other.
I remember I was shocked at how timeless OK Computer sounded given it's a 1997 release. This album's from 1994 and sounds just as timeless.
The Downward Spiral comes from a dark place: this album is all about someone just going further and further and deeper and deeper and further and further and deeper and deeper and further and further and deeper and deeper and further and further and ... read more
It can only go up from 3 Dollar Bill Y’all$, right?
Yes, yes it does. Significant Other is definitely better than 3$BY. However, it is still flawed in many ways.
Let’s get to the positives. The production is a noticeable step up and the instrumentals are almost all fantastic. Wes Borland is on another level here, even more so than in the debut. Sam Rivers (may he rest in peace), John Otto and DJ Lethal also put up some awesome performances.
The first 4 songs are also amazing. The ... read more
Honestly, the Deluxe version of this album sounds almost like an entirely new album.
This is of course, largely due to the placement of the Deluxe tracks, 4 at the beginning and 1 at the end (also available in the physical release).
These first 4 songs add a very different yet compelling atmosphere. It almost sounds like I'm on a ship violently sailing in the seas with a ferocious, wet and thunderous storm pouring on. It's a very terrifying prospect, but it makes this part of the ... read more
QUICK DISCLAIMER: The Original and the Deluxe will get separate detailed reviews because to me, they honestly feel like very distinct listening experiences.
I've always heard of Of Mice & Men in passing, but I haven't heard any of their full length albums until now, with The Flood.
This album is absolutely a textbook metalcore and post hardcore album, there is no denying that. However, is it one of the best, most polished examples of that style? I would say so.
For one, there ... read more
I don't really know what I was thinking listening to Tsunami Sea before Eternal Blue, so uhh...yeah, Eternal Blue review.
This is an amazing album, ESPECIALLY given it's their first full length studio album. Everyone is mega talented but the clear standouts are the married couple of powerhouse vocalist Courtney LaPlante, and incredibly creative guitarist Mike Stringer.
The songs on this album range from soothing and peaceful, like the Title Track, Circle With Me and the album closer ... read more
This is my second Breaking Benjamin album, after We Are Not Alone, and to be completely honest, I think Saturate is a way more interesting experience.
We Are Not Alone is certainly a more refined album, but I like the rawer edge that the debut has. Benjamin's voice is much sharper and his uncleans are really strong here. Everybody performs amazing here, but I feel like there's more character in the performances with this album, largely due to it being a little less polished.

Ah, good ol' Madonna, the Queen of Pop, as most people would say. I won't lie that there are definitely some absolute classic songs like the Title Track of this album that I really enjoy.
However, speaking about the album as a whole, I have noticed quite a few problems with this album that really make this experience a little worse than it could have been. For one, most of these songs tend to have a promising verse, which feels like it builds up to something, only for the chorus to ... read more
I do not know why I chose this as my first Talking Heads album, and to be honest, I probably should've chosen literally anything else before this.
This is a very good album, do not get me wrong. Some songs here are such a vibe and might make it into my rotation, such as And She Was, The Lady Don't Mind, Creatures of Love and Road to Nowhere.
However, there are certainly some songs that feel unfinished to me. Perfect World kind of feels empty, especially considering how promising the ... read more
Yes, this album has been praised to the Moon and back, it's the poster boy for classic and thrash metal.
But all of it is for a reason. Master of Puppets is still an absolute classic after all these years, and you can clearly tell how this band influenced not only a lot of artists, but the entire genre of metal as a whole.
The songs are really long, which does irk me a bit, but it's not too big of a deal, considering the quality of each song is so high. Master of Puppets is ... read more
Just a solid alt metal album. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'll be honest here, it's not crazy. Aside from Blind, I wouldn't come back for any of these songs. But it's not bad either.
If you are really pining for the Linkin Park-style nu metal and rap rock era, this album sort of has you covered, but with an asterisk: this rapper is ass.
Talk about Mike Shinoda's rapping as much as you want, he's still solid at what he does. This rapper sounds like they just ... read more
Same album, just with The Heart Part 5
The Heart Part 5: 9/10
Overall: Still 9/10.
Same album, but with two awesome bonus songs.
No Roads Left: 9/10 (The superior Mike-led song)
Across the Line: 8/10 (One of LP's darkest songs lyrically)
Overall: 7/10 --> 7.5/10 (My problems with this album still definitely stand, but the bonus songs are very strong.)
Sweet Little Boy-OH NO THAT'S ROGER!!!!!!
Yeah, it's the same thing, but with live performances, and Johnny. And no Arto.
Johnny: 9/10
Overall: Still a 9.5/10. Slightly better but not by much.
Same album, just 3 more songs
No Light Escapes: 8/10
On My Shield: 9/10
Runaway: 9/10
Overall: Still 10/10 (you can't improve on perfection)
Hybrid Theory with 2 more songs, both pretty good.
My December: 8/10
High Voltage: 7/10
Overall: Still 8.5/10
Same shit, 3 new songs.
Up from the Bottom is very good, though really feels like more deja vu, just like with the main album.
Unshatter is...fine.
Let You Fade is amazing. Another song that stands out compared to everything else, and genuinely feels like a heartfelt tribute to Chester, as much as the band wouldn't openly admit to saying that.
UFTB: 7/10
Unshatter: 5/10
Let You Fade: 9/10
Overall: 6.5/10 --> 7/10
