Its a good album, but a lot of the tracks (particularly in the first half) can be really forgettable. I feel like there was a lot of potential here, especially with the ending to 'Straight Jacket Fitting'. Its the same QotSA we know and love, but I would have loved to hear something that felt new— something that could give the album its own identity.
Somber, nostalgic, and warm, Rikki is soaking with influences from city pop, psych rock, and even funk. It's an easy listen, and perfect for a quiet summer night of doing nothing.
Consistent sound but not consistently refreshing—has many stellar tracks (This is Why, Running out of Time) while some can feel generic and forgettable (Liar, Crave). Other tracks fall somewhere in between.
