Not as good as their Tri project, but I think the ambient soundscape takes the cake for being very immersive. Even if some parts are repetitive, the consistency helps keep me in a trance state.
Most generic sounding k-pop I've heard in a while. The instrumentals sound good, but the lyrics are as corny as a cornball. I cannot take myself seriously if there is a track Roll in the project. What was the management thinking when it comes to writing these lyrics? They are nonsensical at most, and the instrumentals are there to carry the entire vibe of the album. What management is attempting to achieve is background noise and mall music. I noticed how clean the mixing is, and it's ... read more
I think this is their magnum opus considering the fact that they did an amazing job at encapsulating nostalgic in a musical form. After 13 years of hiatus, they delivered my expectations with a hug - their music makes it feel like I'm receiving a hug by the soundscapes they incorporated. Thank you for the album, Boards of Canada. I am indeed boarding a flight to Canada metaphorically to emphasize my appreciation for the electronic duo! I don't know if it's just me, but the track ... read more
listened to a few tracks and already i no longer want to listen to this, or should i say finish this. i'm rating this NR since i need to actually finish to give it one
I thought I was going to hate on this project just like SIMILE XD, but this album threw me off by surprise. I relistened to Nurture several times before writing this review, so I could have a more unbiased perspective to why Porter Robinson composed in a certain manner. Even if the songwriting may be "cringe" at times - mainly because they give off theater kid vibes - I think he does a great job painting his vulnerable self on the canvas for the world to see. There are some tracks ... read more
Super chaotic flashcore project by Xanopticon. In Liminal Space, he picked up the scraps left by other pioneers such as Aphex Twin and Squarepusher to create this very immersive, aggressive environment full of hardcore kicks inundating in each track. For some reason, some of these tracks are very samey; it's not a bad thing, but sometimes it could get repetitive.
Hey lant! Thanks for recommending me this album. Unfortunately, almost every track that I listened to is mediocre. When I close my eyes, I imagine myself in an environment in which ads are playing all around me. For some reason, they sound as clean as a sterile NASA lab. Despite the negative aspects associated with the album, I think Jump and Real Girl carried the entire album lol
Below average performance for the band Periphery. In general, they are well-known for their very proggy metal sounds that occupy the entire track list, but it seems that APWD is directionless at most. Most of these tracks try to incorporate electronic elements (I recognize that they implement these types of elements, but APWD has more of them), but sometimes oddities may appear here and there.
Regarding the Will Ramos feature, that was an unexpected addition to the Subhuman track. What ... read more
When you hear of the genre name "minimal techno," what pops up in your mind?: is it simplicity, monotony, slow progression, etc.? Continuing down in the rabbit hole of minimum techno, this is a perfectly executed album full of simple lush percussion inundating the atmosphere of each track. My only gripe of this album is their final track, which is quite a weak ending considering the fact that it's just vocal samples with high reverb and delay. Otherwise, it is a really consistent ... read more
Exceptional listen to this album! Despite the controversies surrounding the band, I think this is their magnum opus.
day 4 of me listening to underground artists (dunno if waera is an underground artist)
what an absolute heaven full of harmonies just clashing together to create a creamy banana pie to eat!!! although the vocal performance is mediocre at best, i think the instrumentals carry the entire track.
day 3 of me listening to underground artists.
It's quite rare to find good acid techno albums in general, but this album takes the cake for being quite energetic. My only gripe from this project is Katzenjammer; the track dragged on for way too long. I'm not against long tracks as I like listening to long tracks; they have story. I think the singing part of the tune is a clever addition, but sometimes it may feel one-dimensional with its monotone notes. I wish there were more ... read more
day 2 of listening to underground artists (i skipped a day yesterday don't mind that)
gotta love the grove to the entire track. since this is a demo, it's pretty impressive. all it needs now are the vocals :)
This is a very easy album to get lost in the sauce. The premise of losing yourself in the sauce doesn't possess any negative connotation, but the entire atmosphere of this album is absolutely phenomenal. Even though the composition of each track may appear simple, the elements that make up the entire album come together to create a haunting harmony. I notice a lot of repeating chord progression, which creates a very unsettling experience. I like it! We cannot forget the classic Roygbiv ... read more
I don't know the lyrics, but it goes crazy.... Russian comedy rap is indeed an experience of all time
ps did i hear "epstein" in the rap?
am not gonna rate this, but i'm still disappointed by the extremely high low end mix....
i can barely hear the guitars in the background if the drums and the bass dominate the entire track
please get a new mix. thank you.
UPDATE (SCORE: 80):
finally they fixed the mix!!! it's an absolute banger of a song with better mixing.
Day 1 of me listening to underground artists.
Wow, what can I say? The crossover from sound to sound is quite impressive itself, but I sometimes wonder if the mixing is purposefully done in a way that brings suspense and discomfort. If it is Sli's artistic choice, he has done a great job at it; otherwise, he needs to lower the high end of the eq a bit. It'll still maintain the sound, but it'll be a bit quieter this time around. The themes of suspense and discomfort complement ... read more
