Some bars kind of suck (namely the Eminem part of SALT). Overall, not a bad album. Flows are very smooth and NIKE TECH got some solid bars. But some of the hooks don't really fit the verses (namely NIKE TECH). Solid album and I could def see myself coming back to some of these songs. Only song I'm not all that into (and would probably skip) is DON KING.
Favs: NIKE TECH, SALT, STUCK, ROCK BOTTOM
Least Favs: DON KING
don't really get why bbno$ gets so much hate. His songs are fun for the most part, they are very catchy and I never really have anything I truly hate in his songs (most of the time). Singles wise, I don't get why his singles get so much hate (besides from self-hating white people who unironically call every white rapper a "culture vulture". You know, the type to say "my soul is black" completely seriously). However, his albums are a different story. Each song is ... read more
Holy fuck this is great.
I'm not the biggest fan of screamo/yell rap/yelling vocals. So I'm not the biggest fan of some of the songs on this album. Even with that being said, the actual content within the lyrics is amazing for the most part (liar and everything i love are little lacking in unique and interesting lyrical content compared to the rest of the songs imo). I was a fan of Lil Darkie back in middle and early high school. I grew out of his more "controversial" style ... read more
Really great album. It seems like the story is a guy who works a shitty job that makes him wake up at 5am and stay extremely late. Either he got a divorce from his wife and has become estranged to his kid, or during the car crash that happens his life flashes before his eyes and he sees a future where he dies leaving his wife and son behind. My biggest gripe is 100% the mixing. It's really quiet (But I was able to sort of fix that with a simple "smart volume" setting in ... read more
Both singles have been dope so far, looking forward to the album and following singles.
After a second listen, I think I understand the concept more. I don't think the actual concept is just "Slim Shady's back". I think the main concept is Slim Shady symbolizing Eminem pre-2008. When Em was heavily addicted to drugs and working on his final album King Mathers. I think Renaissance to Guilty Conscience 2 is King Mathers. The album as a whole represents an alternate reality where Eminem died in 2007 when he OD'd. Head Honcho to Tobey represent releases of ... read more
Beat reminds me of some shit that'd be on College Dropout or Graduation. The hook is kind eh, but it doesn't really bother me. Ghostface does his shit as well. Kanye's verse is not great, but I overall like the track.
I'm surprisingly hyped for this upcoming album. I've listened twice (will listen a third time when the lyrics are done being transcribed on Genius). One listen was just straight through on spotify and the second was with the music video. Aside from the third verse with the choppy flow part, the flow is fun and reminiscent of old Em. Some bars are a little corny, but even with that, I like this.
I'm honestly looking forward to the full album.
That god damn smiley face emoji bar. I hate it so ... read more
While better than his early work in delivery and content, the overall sound of 21's music hasn't evolved much. I still think this album is pretty solid, but is rather stale and lacking major stand-out moments aside from redrum. But when redrum has a problem of over-staying it welcome and as such almost becomes a slog to listen to. I think this album is slightly over-hated, but it's also a flawed project. I hope to see the next album 21 puts out to be of a similar caliber to ... read more
Ice Spice is a promising new rapper who falls into the trap of blowing up before she's ready. What I mean by this is she still has plenty of areas to work on in her music.
her flow is good, but she has the dababy issue of only having that one flow. It's catchy, but will get boring after a while.
I would say her weakest point in delivery right now. She has the same monotone delivery in every song which ends up with a boring listening experience with little variety that doesn't work with long ... read more
need a couple more listens to finalize my thoughts. But after 3 listens, I do enjoy the songs and the skits (besides a couple that I find quite annoying... and some that are just straight weird).
The beats are fantastic and the lyrics are pretty good (same with the features). The vocals are mixed quietly at some parts (especially when that rigamortus sample comes in loud af.
Favorite tracks: Shimmy, Wake Up & Gaithersberg Freestyle
Disliked tracks: none
Really loving the production and just overall sound.
After a first listen, it's seems really good. Gonna give it a couple more listens before I truly finalize my review. But as of right now, this is a solid 85 to me.
really good. I like some of the new versions more than the old ones and only wish we got more new tracks than remixes, but it's still great. Denzel da goat no cap.
