The better version IMHO

Yeah this is my new Brat. I still like tracks from Brat, but I would say I vibe with the energy and production of these tracks more overall. Slayyyter's vocals are varied and engaging through the whole album, from sweeter singing to angrier, almost rap adjacent sections. The production throughout is incredible throughout the whole album and really plays into whatever story Slayyyter is trying to tell on each track. Well, looks like I'm finding myself in the group of listeners that find this better than Master of Puppets. Hope there's crackers and cheese at the initiation. In all seriousness though, I do find this a much better representation of thrash metal as a genre and as an album overall than MOP. I would edge "Fade to Black" out ahead of "Master of Puppets", "Battery" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" trade pretty evenly, and every other track here is ... read more

My first Metallica review and sadly the last one with Cliff Burton before his tragic death. While there's only 8 tracks on this project, they all have a pretty fleshed out run time to allow for varying passages of shredding guitars, thundering bass, cutting vocals and pounding drums.
