Luke Bryan - Fish Hunt Golf Drink

The pinnacle of saying key words for your audience and they clap and you get money. Remember when country music used to be actually about something rather than "I live where people have southern accents"? Not even rural living per se, just somewhere within the southern US.

Prince - Nothing Compares 2 U

The better version IMHO

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
95

Yeah this is my new Brat. I still like tracks from Brat, but I would say I vibe with the energy and production of these tracks more overall. Slayyyter's vocals are varied and engaging through the whole album, from sweeter singing to angrier, almost rap adjacent sections. The production throughout is incredible throughout the whole album and really plays into whatever story Slayyyter is trying to tell on each track. I would also say this album is consistently good in a way where the best ... read more

Metallica - Ride the Lightning

Well, looks like I'm finding myself in the group of listeners that find this better than Master of Puppets. Hope there's crackers and cheese at the initiation. In all seriousness though, I do find this a much better representation of thrash metal as a genre and as an album overall than MOP. I would edge "Fade to Black" out ahead of "Master of Puppets", "Battery" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" trade pretty evenly, and every other track here is ... read more

Metallica - Master of Puppets

My first Metallica review and sadly the last one with Cliff Burton before his tragic death. While there's only 8 tracks on this project, they all have a pretty fleshed out run time to allow for varying passages of shredding guitars, thundering bass, cutting vocals and pounding drums. The title track obviously stands out as one of the most beloved songs in metal, with a new legion of fans following the incorporation of the song in the show Stranger Things. "Battery", "Damage, ... read more

Megadeth - Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
100

A meedly meedly masterpiece

Living Colour - Cult of Personality
100

Legitimately no joke one of the best songs of the whole 80s. And yes CM Punk as well.

Megadeth - Rust in Peace
96

While coming from two different families of metal, I find a comparison with my recent experience with Painkiller by Judas Priest fitting, and why I find this to just edge it out. Vocally Rob Halford obviously blows Dave Mustaine out of the water, but I think Dave makes his admittedly weak singing voice work for the snark and disdain needed for the tracks here. Guitar and bass wise, Rust in Peace takes it pretty convincingly for me with Dave, Marty Friedman and David Ellefson pulling out some ... read more

Dead Kennedys - Plastic Surgery Disasters

Finally, something that can keep up with my ADHD mind. In all seriousness though, this is awesome. The drums especially are so important to each song and especially in differentiating the faster parts from the breaks into slower sections. The bass and guitar are also incredible and keep the fire of each track burning as the singer fires off shots at politics and the entities that control all of our lives, both the visible and the invisible. The guitar builds off of surf rock to become something ... read more

Judas Priest - Painkiller
91

Perhaps one of the exciting ways to start an album ever. If you weren't sure exactly what to expect on this project (and with an album cover that looks like it should be spray painted on the side of your older brother's band, you should have some idea already), you'll learn very quickly when the drums start pounding in your ears. After a couple disappointing albums before, Judas Priest needed to come back strong, and come back strong they did. Outside of the opener, which is one ... read more

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA Afterglow
65

There's some stand out tracks like "Sushi", "Wild And Alone" and "HARD", but overall it's a step down from even the original Eusexua. It's like a DLC you get for a couple specific missions or features and tolerate everything else that comes with it. I can appreciate some of the elements from tracks like "Cheap Hotel" and "Touch A Girl" but I still prefer the reissue Eusexua the most.

Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um
90

Yeah hi can I get the um ah...can I get the Mingus?

Charles Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus
76

"Just write something down and we'll change it later" ahh album title. First track and "Celia" are great but it's pretty inconsistent overall and nowhere near as good as Black Saint and Sinner Lady.

Noah Kahan - The Great Divide
80

Noah Kahan is one of the best scene setters in modern music. He has an undeniable ability to transport the listener to sit with him in the woods of the northeast US and observe as he paints pictures with masterful lyricism of the loneliness, frustration, familial strain, guilt, and other emotions that feel they belong in a place where the trees go on for miles and block out the sun and the roads stretch on for miles. I had heard him in bits and pieces before listening to this album and what I ... read more

King Crimson - Red

Providence keeps this from being a perfect rating for a few different parts but wow is Starless as amazing as everyone says. Also adding more bass solos and saxophone to your album will always be a good idea.

David Bowie - ★ [Blackstar]
100

"He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift."

Jessie Ware - Superbloom
89

I was really looking forward to this one and unsurprisingly Jessie Ware delivers yet again, although with not quite the same level of highs she had before. Don't get me wrong, if you like her previous work or are a fan of disco you will find a lot to like here. However, in my opinion, this is the first project I've heard with a few tracks that are bordering on just being okay ( the ballads "Love You For" and "16 Summers" which are well constructed and performed but ... read more

Joyner Lucas - I'm Sorry
91

No matter what else he puts out, he will always have this in his catalog. Heartbreaking every time.

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA
78

I listened to this on a Youtube playlist that combined both the original and reissue tracks together so I'm reviewing them together.

+Girl Feels Good, better version of Striptease
-Childlike Things, Wanderlust, weaker ending, missing the good remix tracks

I prefer the reissue

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA [Reissue]
88

I listened to this on a Youtube playlist that combined both the original and reissue tracks together so I'm reviewing them together.

+Perfectly, Lonely But Exciting Road, The Dare, Got to Feel, no Childlike Things, better ending
-Striptease Remix which I don't find as good, no Girl Feels Good

My preferred version overall

"@Ezra3747 "No hate but that's honestly disgusting" is a bit contradictory. I knew this wouldn't be a popular opinion but I'm not going to lie and artificially inflate a ranking because it's popular. I really like the glorilla single I think it has a good beat and I enjoy her vocal performance quite a bit. Here I really just do not like the singer's voice and it is an active penalty for me on my listening experience. I considered going even lower but I like the instrumentation so much that this is where I ended up. I'm sure this is a beloved record of yours and I can understand why a lot of people like it. It just doesn't do the same thing for me. Again, maybe on a relisten I will change my mind."
