More proof it's worth exploring one hut wonder's careers for bops (or letting Todd in the Shadows do it for you and reap the benefits)

Closing out one of the best album trilogies ever a few days after the unfortunate news of D'Angelo's passing. A true musical legend in terms of talent and innovation. May he rest in peace and may his legacy never be forgotten and only grow stronger in time.
Maybe my sense of humor is different but ts was not funny to me at all and there's nothing worse to me than a song that's supposed to be funny but isn't.
Raw emotion combined masterfully with some of the best production I've ever heard in my life. Lorde's alto comes off as both velvety smooth and incredibly vulnerable. The ultimate breakup album for everything you could experience after you're finally by yourself and processing the true extent of heartbreak.
In the sea of Nu Metal, don't let this get forgotten. I don't need to sing Ryan Martinie's praises on bass, but everyone else brings some pretty good technical ability and creativity here. While this band and album are known best for the "BrBr Deng" of "Dig", I would also say that "Internal Primates Forever", "-1", "Cradle", "Prod", "Severed" and especially "Death Blooms" are worth a listen. Just a ... read more
This feels like truly one of the most timeless songs ever. The sampling work here is simply fantastic.

The definitive instrumental hip hop and plunderphonics album of the 90s and a true pioneer in the fields of sampling and turntablism as art forms. "Midnight in a Perfect World" is regarded as one of the best songs ever for a reason and I would put "Building Steam with a Grain of Salt" right behind it. Everything else on here is enjoyable and interesting to listen to even at some moments it feels a little long (especially on "Napalm Brain/Scatter ... read more
Took me way too long to get around to this one but I finally answered if I'm team Demon Days or Team Plastic Beach. Def Team Demon Days. Don't get me wrong there are some truly legendary songs on here and some of Gorillaz's best work overall on here, but there's also some cuts that I felt weren't for me or just kind of fell flat overall. You can tell the difference in the difference of track ratings especially towards the middle that there's some tracks here that ... read more
I saw this getting dunked on on a Liam Donovan video about Coworker music and I doubted myself for a minute but no this slaps for sure. There was definitely a trend around this time in the 2010s of taking emotional songs and giving them dance remixes and it being a mismatch but here I really think the beat choice works well with the message from Mike about materialism and lacking depth as a person. It's not a hype beat it's more the kind of beat where you come to an epiphany on the ... read more
It's a shame these two only had a limited time to work together during DOOM's life because there's some really nice synergy here. Dangermouse really constructs some great chill yet intricate beats that definitely have a cartoonish energy (which makes sense from the Adult Swim incorporation) and give DOOM a lot of space to express his creative abstract flow over. I'm not too much of an Adult Swim person so I didn't get most of the references but for the most part I ... read more
There's some expected good DOOM bars and production here but it's really held back by general inconstancy and some really bad moments of mixing. "Fastlane" is I think the most disappointing song for me as I really like the beat and it sounds like there's good bars in the background but the rapping is simply mixed too low where I can barely hear it over the beat. Strongest points are definitely "Fazers", "Next Levels", "Anti-Matter" and ... read more
Listening to this by itself without "Float On" after is just...beyond words rough.
