Drowned in Sound
Uncompromising in their brutality and even the odd bit of melody, if you decide to listen without prejudice, Mudvayne are actually a killer band.

While it seems stereotypical to say this ... this is nu-metal's defining album.

Among the most impressive aspects of Mudvayne's sound is the group's knack for showcasing their undeniable instrumental skills while performing a crushingly heavy.

Can these guys giving thanks and love to family and friends be the same ones performing aggressive lockstep metal, spewing obscenities, and singing about suicide? It seems so, but it's hard to take seriously.

The interesting thing about Mudwayne is that some of them are fancy musicians: bassist Ryknow has got jazz fusion somewhere in his background, and the band uses disquieting sounds and spoken words to form collages that are clearly influenced by, and better than, the ones on Slipknot's second album. Mudwayne's biggest drawback, though, is that we might not want to know their psychodramas.

THE NU METAL CHALLENGE PART 7/25

We did it, ladies and gentlemen. Our first decent album in this series! LET'S GO!

When this band came onto the nu-metal scene in the early 2000's with their gimmicky visuals and highly derivative sound, one could easily write this band off as just an uncomfortable mesh of already established nu-metal titans, such as Slipknot and Korn. It's not hard to see why: their most popular song, Dig, basically became a meme due to how stupid the whole video looked, how ... read more

-THE NU METAL CHALLENGE- PART 7/25

BRBR DENG

This was one of the albums in the list that I was pretty curious about since it's pretty highly rated on rym and AOTY. I didn't know much about the band going into this, but I for sure knew this was going to be better than Dope or Papa Roach. I didn't know the album was going to be over an hour though...

Yeah, I don't really like how long this album is... This could have easily been a 40-minute album, and like a lot of nu-metal albums, the sound ... read more

Ok, i take my words back. This is the best Nu Metal album of all time.
When i was starting in metal i feared Mudvanye because it was "too brutal" for me, and satanic. But, its just... Heavy, and better than Slipknot which let's be honest, is the most overrated band of all time.
In contrast, Mudvanye is the most underrated band of mainstream Nu-metal (Yes, i have to specify the Mainstream.)
Also, the bass, best bass i've heard in a record (At the day i'm writing this ... read more
