Starts out really strong with the first 5 tracks, then it gets quite a bit weaker after that. Still a good project overall for the sophisti-pop sound. If you're a fan of 80s pop and/or new wave, you'll definitely find some things you'll like in here.
I would rather share a Scott Steiner promo than talk about this album so I'll do that instead:
"That's right Mean Gene, I don't lay down for nobody and whether I leave here the world champion tonight, it don't matter because it's not going to change my focus on getting even with Goldberg for fracturing my face at Fall Brawl. Goldberg! I'm getting even for you fracturing my face and I'm gonna prove to you that I'm the man with the largest arms in ... read more
Disclaimer: This is the first Turnstile album I've listened to so I do not have Glow On comparisons at this time. Later listens could potentially change this review.
This is an album that is seemingly centered around two different, arguably clashing, sounds of hardcore punk and dream pop and trying to find a place for them to co-exist together. I would say for the first half of the album they manage to find some degree of balance, primarily on the first three tracks. After that with the ... read more
Takes everything I was so pleasantly surprised by on 3D Country and just perfects it. It's Radiohead and Modest Mouse and Velvet Underground and Talking Heads all together while still feeling unapologetically its own unique experience. AOTY for absolute sure and just an amazing project overall. Just absolutely blown away.

I listened to this at work so I fear I could not get into the proper state to listen to this album as it should be enjoyed (if you catch my drift). Overall though, really enjoyed this. Masterful work all around. Also I'm convinced Jam Band is just Prog Rock for people who can't read music and for fans who don't keep track of time signatures.
I've heard a lot of people say this is the definitive Gaga project and while it does have possibly her best song in "Bad Romance" and some great work like "Alejandro", "Monster" and "So Happy I Could Die", the rest of the track does not stand up to what I found most enjoyable on Born This Way. I'm not a huge fan of "Telephone" as I feel there's too wide of a gap between what Gaga and Beyonce want out of the track (which I'm ... read more
As someone who only heard one project before this I have to feel like exploring his only discography can only get better from here...right? First listen for me was So Much Fun and now we have....No fun. There's definitely some emotion on display but it's over some of the most repetitive beats I've ever heard which muddies what could be some real emotional evocation.
This is my first Young Thug project and I wanted to listen to a better received project before I got to the new project so I could have a point of comparison. Should this be a pretty accurate portrayal of what Young Thug brings to the hip hop and trap scene, I'm interested to pursue him more after this. There's some very catchy beats that work with Young Thug's autotuned singing and raps well. For me, the lighter and more melodic beats worked the best for me on tracks like ... read more
A lot of the trademark characteristics of prog metal and prog rock are found here and done very well. Songs made up of interesting and complex sounding passages, powerful vocals, unexpected instrumental inclusions that still go well with the other instruments, great drumming. "Lascivious" was definitely my favorite track. The long track times may be intimidating but to me every song felt like it filled its length with enough great music to keep me invested the whole time.
People will say this title is bad like they haven't accepted FOB and PATD song titles for literal years.
DID SOMEBODY SAY MEATLOAF.
1/15/26: Rating 33-> 45. Yeah I was too hard on this. What's Going On still sucks and is even worse on relisten.
My first impression of this album was noticing the inclusion of "Up" and "WAP" and thinking to myself "this really seems like a desperation move to put two established singles on here, not to mention ones from around 5 years ago". "I also thought that I would enjoy those two songs the most over everything on here and against the odds of 21 ... read more
Giving this a listen before listening to the new album because I realized I've never given it a full listen before. From my experience, I feel that the best Cardi B songs are the ones where the beat work matches the energy of her boisterous and braggadocios bars and personality. Cardi is a charismatic and skillful rapper but it would seem she really, REALLY, needs a good beat to work with to get the most out of her performance. I would say this works best on "Get Up 10", ... read more
As someone who's been dealing with clinical depression for over a decade...yeah I don't know how comfortable with how much this album just sounds like what it feels like to just...be. I didn't really listen to Mac too much while he was alive and this is my first album listen of his so I understand this the rest of his discography doesn't sound like this but...geezus. I've always said I wanted to hear an album that sounds how depression, not sadness but depression, ... read more
In a word, inconsistent. For every decent song or two, there's a boring one or two songs following right after. Sounds very much like a bar band, which isn't inherently a bad thing, but there's definitely some songs where you stay dancing where your friends and some songs where your time is better spent refilling your drinks or going to the bathroom. Later when you and your friends are recapping on the night, you try and remember the name of the band that was playing and you ... read more
Probably one of the truest album titles I've ever seen
I'm certainly not varying from the common consensus when I say that this project is, in my opinion, way too long. If you took the first CD, took off "No More Pain" and "What's Ya Phone #", and moved "Can't C Me", "Holla at Me", and the title track onto it, you have a pretty close to perfect album. I still had a good time listening to this album but I'm not sure it's something I would ever listen to again in full versus enjoying ... read more
A much appreciated second helping of what she brought on her previous record that I will happily accept on my plate. It has a couple songs I didn't enjoy quite as much as the rest but this is still an amazing record. "Free Yourself", "Begin Again", "Freak Me Now" and "Pearls" are some of the strongest tracks here. Also 'Lightning' is pretty underrated on the track list rating. Not much else to say here that I didn't say on What's ... read more
Complete and total bliss, the album. The perfect record to throw on and dance because you want to or you need to. Whether you're having the time of your life or you're dancing through the tears, feeling yourself in your living room or the club in the wee hours of the morning. Jessie Ware's voice is absolute angelic and exudes such control, sounding at the exact right volume whenever it needs to. The production has some of the absolute best bass, synth, strings, horns, percussion ... read more
