After already dropping the iconic Homework, Daft Punk came back with Discovery and just wow… this is really next level. Like Homework was that club-vibe, dirty house music. On Discovery, Daft Punk went all out, like it almost sounds like they jumped in a spaceship, flew into the future, and made the most perfect album ever on the moon. It’s so smooth, so fun, so smart, like this is peak Daft Punk. Peak electronic music. Honestly, just peak music in general.
The production on here ... read more
After an absolutely legendary career and a huge amount of classic albums, Michael Jackson dropped Invincible in 2001. It might not get the same universal love as Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, HIStory, or Dangerous, but to be honest, I think it’s a stunning album in its own right. It’s not trying to rewrite history, but it quietly reminds you why MJ was a genius.
With Invincible, Michael leaned more into R&B, and of course, he does it like only he can, with that perfect mix of ... read more
After the incredible Blueprint, expectations for the sequel were sky-high. I mean, The Blueprint is one of the best hip-hop records ever made. So naturally, people were waiting to see if Jay could do it again. And while The Blueprint 2 is a step down, that’s more a testament to how amazing the original was. Because this follow-up is still a pretty solid album.
Especially in the first half, Jay is locked in. Tracks like A Dream, Hovi Baby, The Watcher 2, ’03 Bonnie & Clyde (with ... read more
The debut solo effort from the former *NSYNC star is actually a solid R&B/pop crossover moment. It’s soaked in early-2000s nostalgia with those smooth Neptunes and Timbaland beats, JT’s falsetto floating over them, it all feels very of its time, but in a good way. I remember those hits always being on the radio back then. I mean, everyone knows those hits. And everyone loves them. Songs like Señorita, Like I Love You with Clipse, and Rock Your Body are undeniable bops, ... read more
Coldplay’s second album is, just like their debut, a pretty enjoyable one. With this album, they already solidified their place in music industry, and it’s hard to deny that A Rush of Blood to the Head is a strong record. Songs like In My Place, The Scientist, and Clocks are basically Coldplay essentials with those swelling melodies, emotional builds, and that clean, radio-ready production. The title track and Amsterdam also stand out with their atmosphere and crescendos. That said, ... read more
This debut really set the tone for what N*E*R*D was all about: genre-blending, wild creativity, punch, and pure vibes. The Neptunes already had the production game on lock, but In Search of... let them take that raw energy and apply it to something even more experimental. The mix of funk, rock, hip hop, and soul really hits, and the live band sound gives the whole thing so much punch. Tracks like Lapdance, Rockstar, Run to the Sun, Bobby James and Things Are Getting Better are just absolute ... read more
After the brilliance of Amused to Death and the classical detour with Ça Ira, Roger Waters came back in 2017 with another concept album – because of course he did. And while Is This the Life We Really Want? might not be his most groundbreaking work, it’s still very Roger Waters, and I mean that in the best way.
Once again, he dives deep into the world’s problems, and once again, he pulls it off perfectly. It’s dark, political, sharp, and full of that familiar ... read more
Alfredo was so great they just had to run it back. And we should be really, really grateful they did.
Five years after dropping one of the best hip-hop records of the 2020s, Freddie and Uncle Al are back at it again with Alfredo 2. And man… I was already so hyped after hearing 1995, like, that one was elite, pure Alfredo-level greatness, so going into this, expectations were sky high. And they absolutely delivered. Again.
Honestly, they’re unstoppable. This definitely is a worthy ... read more
Jorja Smith’s back with a brand new single, With You, and this is just a very pleasant one. Jorja always had that effortlessly smooth and soulful voice, and once again she delivers. Her vocals just glide, like, there’s something so natural and calming about the way she sings, and this track really lets that shine.
The production here isn’t anything too wild or experimental, but it doesn’t need to be. It's well produced, with a very mellow vibe, very warm and ... read more
FINALLY. I’ve been waiting on this for so long. KEVIN IS BACK.
The Slow Rush era was such a beautiful ride. I know some fans still miss the Lonerism days, but The Slow Rush had that dreamy, lush, more electronic Tame Impala vibe dialled all the way in. And now with that era wrapped up, we’re clearly heading into a new chapter, and I’m so ready for it.
We already got a small preview of this new sound when Kevin played a bit of it live in Barcelona a few weeks ago. And from ... read more
After What Did I Miss? (which was actually a pretty solid single), I was cautiously optimistic. It felt like maybe, just maybe, we were getting a focused Drake again. Like he might finally be back on his grown-man rap bag. But then Which One drops and… sigh, here we go again. Drake being goofy. Drake using random accents. Drake making another song that sounds like a throwaway from a playlist that already had too many throwaways.
The production here is just plain boring. It kind of ... read more
Daniel Caesar is back, fresh off the brilliance of Never Enough last year, and this new single is quite a strong return. Have A Baby (With Me) is just so smooth. That soft, fluttery guitar intro really hypnotises you and Daniel floats over it with that smooth voice to make it even more hypnotic. It’s intimate, seductive, honest, and just really beautiful.
And then halfway through, when the groove deepens, that’s when the track really blooms. It gets just the right amount of punch, ... read more
MF DOOM is such a fucking legend. And his alter egos are just as iconic. As King Geedorah, DOOM went all in again, and Take Me to Your Leader is the result of that madness. Once again, he proves his insane rapping skills, his top-tier ear for production, and his ability to create entire worlds through his music.
This album feels so DOOM: grimy, weird, funny, brilliant, but it also has its own distinct vibe. The whole monster-from-outer-space theme gives it this surreal sci-fi edge, and it ... read more
After already proving themselves as an unstoppable force with a huge streak of incredible albums, OutKast came through with Speakerboxxx/The Love Below: a bold double LP that gives each member their own space to shine. And, it works so, so well. It’s like getting two amazing albums in one, and they complement each other perfectly.
On Speakerboxxx, we get full Big Boi energy. Tracks like GhettoMusick, Unhappy, The Way You Move, Flip Flop Rock, and Reset remind everyone just how great of a ... read more
50 Cent, the guy who always has a joke ready, but on Get Rich or Die Tryin’, he wasn’t playing around. And honestly, after surviving being shot nine times, who could blame him? This album is a serious artistic, and personal statement. From the production to his delivery, it hits hard. There’s a rawness to it that absolutely works.
You’ve got absolute classics like Many Men, In da Club, 21 Questions, P.I.M.P., those tracks alone gave this album its legendary status. And ... read more
And a little less David Guetta please 🙏
Just like pretty much every other Guetta album, there’s one or two bangers that hit, but the rest is just dull, repetitive filler. Nothing really stands out, and honestly, it’s hard to stay engaged. It's like background noise that occasionally turns the volume up for a second and then goes back to being forgettable. Not much to write home about.
After two earlier decent hip hop-focused albums, The Black Eyed Peas came through with Elephunk, and it’s decent again. There are some undeniable bangers like Let’s Get Retarded, Shut Up, and of course the massive hit Where Is The Love. Those tracks really carried the album.
But besides those hits, the rest of the album doesn’t leave that much of a mark. A lot of it just blends together. And, some tracks like Latin Girls and Sexy..., they are just atrocious. It's a bit ... read more
Last year BRAT Summer, this year first Dealer Summer, and now… Tyler Summer???
What a fucking surprise. Tyler dropping again after just 9 months?? Usually we’d be waiting two years minimum for a new record. Tyler is on another level right now. And with that Clipse verse in his pocket, I was hyped to see what direction he’d go this time. Are we getting a straight-up rap album? A West Coast banger project like GNX? Or maybe a disco/dance album since he teased that this ... read more
Man… this was a chore. Guetta Blaster is exactly what I expect from David Guetta at this point. Just loud, repetitive, and barely anything that sticks. There’s always maybe one or two tracks that are kind of catchy, but the rest just blends together. It’s all very surface-level, like, there’s no real depth or vibe switch-ups, just one long club loop. And that gets tiring fast. If you’ve heard one David Guetta album, you’ve basically heard them all. This ... read more
