Well, pretty much a basic Ty Dolla $ign track. It's listenable, but there's just nothing interesting happening here. The production is generic, Ty's flow is just like always, but the long doesn't really lead anywhere. Just a short and pretty uninteresting track in the end.
Uhm… this is the guy that was salty he didn’t get the Super Bowl instead of Kendrick?
Come on, man. Look, Wayne is an all-time legend, no doubt about that. The guy gave us many classics — Tha Carter II, III, No Ceilings, Dedication 2 — the list goes on. But lately it’s been rough. Carter V was still pretty decent, especially considering most of it was recorded years before it dropped. But since then? Funeral, Trust Fund Babies, ColleGrove 2, Tha Fix Before Tha ... read more
Wow. Just wow. This was my first time listening to a full Jimi Hendrix album, so I figured I’d start where it all began. And man, I’m absolutely blown away.
Of course, over the years I’ve heard some of his music and obviously knew about his legendary status — but this album really made a fan. Hendrix is really worth every praise, the guy was a genius. His guitar work on this record is just jaw-dropping. It’s so edgy, raw, psychedelic, bluesy — and played ... read more
Finally, Jon Bellion is back again. And based on the singles he released, I was actually pretty excited for this one. It seemed like he’d finally moved away from that Disney/Pixar-esque soundscape — which, to be fair, did work at times but often felt corny and overly produced/polished. His previous two albums were still okay (especially Glory Sound Prep), but nothing groundbreaking. This time, though, with the long hiatus and some intriguing singles, I hoped he’d return with ... read more
For a lot of us, channel ORANGE was that first real moment we really heard of Frank Ocean. And what a first impression it was. Frank came through with something so unique, so heartfelt, and so different than what then popular artists like Usher and Chris Brown were doing. At a time when R&B was kind of stuck in certain patterns, Frank cracked the whole thing open and delivered a record that felt like it came from a very different space— yet somehow that still spoke directly to ... read more
I have to admit, I’m actually pretty surprised by this album. I haven’t been much of a fan of Miley’s recent work — especially Endless Summer Vacation, which felt pretty much like a lazy cash grab packed with generic radio pop. It was dull, uninspired, and frankly, Flowers was one of the most annoying hit singles I’ve heard in a while.
So when the first singles for Something Beautiful dropped, I was actually caught off guard — in a good way. The title track ... read more
Boldy back in top-form, right in time.
This is exactly the kind of Boldy I’ve been craving this year. His 2024 releases so far have been a bit of a mixed bag — some of those trap-leaning albums felt just really lacklustre and uninspired. But then he followed up with Conversational Piece and Token of Appreciation, which were both solid and showed flashes again of that sharp, focused Boldy we know.
And now with Magnolia Lefore, he seems fully locked back in again. This EP is tight, ... read more
Well… I didn’t expect too much, and honestly, it pretty much met those expectations. It’s just incredibly bland. Most of the album isn’t outright bad, but it feels like a whole lot of nothing. Joe Jonas struggles to bring any real identity to the table. Instead, it sounds like he’s borrowing from a bunch of familiar names: a bit of Harry Styles here, a splash of Ed Sheeran there, even a touch of country-pop thrown in, but it all ends up feeling washed in the same ... read more
After Freak Show, I pretty much gave up all my hope that G-Eazy would ever drop a solid album (not that he ever really has). And while Helium does feel like a slight step forward, it's still a pretty bad album overall.
Some of his rapping performances here are honestly laughable — a bit cringe, awkward delivery, and bars that just don’t land. It feels like he’s trying hard to sound sharp or emotional, but it ends up sounding forced and uninspired. While there are a few ... read more
CONDUCTOR, WE HAVE A PROBLEM...
And that problem is that Rome Streetz simply can’t miss. Well, it isn't really a problem for us, but it is for others in the game. Because let's be real, there are few that are on the same level of rapping as Rome right now.
After a killer run with KISS THE RING and The Hatton Garden Heist, Rome's back again — this time teaming up with Conductor Williams for Trainspotting. And once again, he delivers some absolute heat. Rome slides ... read more
CLIPSE BACK!!!
Man, it’s been way too long, but finally, the brothers are back, and Ace Trumpets is a hell of a way to return. Pusha T and No Malice go absolutely nuts over this aggressive beat courtesy of Pharrell, and it works absolutely perfectly. The energy, the chemistry, the bars — everything on here is dialed in to the absolute max.
There’s this rawness to the track, but it’s still polished in that classic Pharrell way at the same time. It feels really urgent, ... read more
After already delivering a seriously beautiful R&B album with MUTT, Leon Thomas comes back again with a great deluxe — and it’s just more proof that this guy is on a crazy run. With nine new tracks (including two remixes), HEEL doesn’t feel like a simple afterthought at all. If anything, it feels like a perfect extension of the original album’s vibe.
Leon just glides over the production again. It’s buttery, soulful, and full of subtle detail. He's got ... read more
VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR!
Tecca is clearly already in full summer mode. With OWA OWA he drops yet another vibey single that just comes at the perfect time, right before summer.
It’s not really groundbreaking or anything in terms of production and performance, but tbh that's not really a deal-breaker for me here. The sample flip is nice, the beat is bouncy, and the energy is just right for summer. It’s light, fun, and easy to throw on.
While there's nothing ... read more
While I wasn’t really a fan of the first single What Was That, this one is already much better. Man Of The Year starts off soft and subtle, gradually building tension — and then finally, in the last 30 seconds, it blossoms into something beautiful. That delicate explosion at the end is simply gorgeous.
I just wish it either came a little earlier or that the song continued for another couple of minutes. It spends a bit too much time in the build-up and never fully explores that ... read more
Following up an album as iconic and grand as A Night at the Opera is certainly no small task — and A Day at the Races might not hit quite the same heights, but it’s still a good and enjoyable record. It feels like the companion piece it was meant to be: a bit more polished, maybe a touch less theatrical, but very much still Queen in all their glory.
The big moments are quite strong on here. Somebody to Love is of course one of Queen’s all-time classics — gospel-tinged, ... read more
You know how some albums just feel special from the very first second? Wish You Were Here is one of those albums for me. One of the best, and one of my favourite, albums of all time. Coming off The Dark Side of the Moon—which is already perfect and rightfully considered one of the best albums ever—Pink Floyd somehow didn’t just rest on their laurels. They dug deeper and continued their stellar run.
The whole thing is soaked in this atmosphere of loss and disillusionment, and ... read more
With Children of the World, the Bee Gees really started leaning hard into the disco era — and you can already hear the shift that would soon launch them into global superstardom. While Children of the World doesn’t quite hit the heights of their Saturday Night Fever material just yet, it’s definitely a strong step in that direction.
There are some real great tracks on here. You Should Be Dancing is obviously the big hit, already a full-blown disco anthem that still sounds ... read more
After the game-changing LIVE.LOVE.A$AP, Rocky had pretty much a lot to live up to with LONG.LIVE.A$AP, but he absolutely came through. The album already kicks off incredibly, with great tracks like Long Live A$AP, Goldie, PMW, and LVL, setting the tone right away. The energy is infectious, and Rocky’s confidence is on full display yet again. Just like on the mixtape, I really liked the production on this one, with again the signature spacey and smooth Clams Casino soundscape.
As the ... read more
Well... it's an album, you could say that.
But anything else? Nah. Morgan Wallen again drops an overly bloated, uninspired and horrendously generic country album.
From one of the biggest country artists of the current age, you'd expect a bit more in terms of taking the genre any step further. But Morgan Wallen doesn't seem very interested in that. What seems more important to him: creating a 37-tracks long album, consisting of 37 times the same kind of track, just for an easy ... read more
Pure Heroine honestly says it all with the title. Because what a hell of a debut this was. Lorde was only 16 when she dropped this... And it’s crazy how much talent she was already showing at that age. You could just feel she had something special right from the jump.
The whole album feels so delicate, but at the same time also very confident. The production is clean and minimal, but never boring. It’s all about creating the perfect atmosphere for her voice and lyrics to shine. And ... read more
