With Magic Oneohtrix Point Never, Daniel Lopatin once again shows he’s just built different when it comes to crafting unique sonic worlds. The man is honestly one of the best ambient and experimental artists of our time. The way he builds these worlds of sound, it’s insane. Everything constantly shifts and morphs, and every little sound feels alive. It’s like the music is breathing, changing shape while you’re listening.
The concept of the album is genius too. ... read more
After postponing the release a few times, TYCOON has finally dropped. After the whole Vultures mess, it’s nice to see Ty back doing his own thing again. It’s been five years since his last solo project, Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, which was a pretty solid album — nothing mind-blowing though, but it had its moments. Ty’s always had that signature sound with his smooth voice and those catchy melodies and harmonies. So I was curious to see what direction he’d take with ... read more
IT’S TIME TO PUT EVERYTHING ASIDE BECAUSE KEVIN PARKER JUST DROPPED A NEW ALBUM.
Seriously, drop whatever you’re doing, grab your headphones, and sit down, because this man has been cooking something wild these past few years and you just know you’re about to step into another world for an hour.
So here we are. Deadbeat: the long-awaited follow-up to The Slow Rush. And honestly, I’m still trying to process everything I just heard. Before we dive in, let’s talk ... read more
After contributing and absolutely killing it on Dre’s The Chronic, it was only a matter of time before Snoop stepped out with his own album. And what an introduction this was. From the very first track, Snoop’s special energy just grabs you. It’s laid-back, it’s smooth, it’s funky, but it’s also unhinged in the best way. Only Snoop can do it like that. This guy has that charisma where every word, every line, just sticks. You can tell immediately why he became ... read more
Man, 2Pac’s second album already shows how fast he was growing. Compared to 2Pacalypse Now, this one already feels sharper, more focused, and honestly, a bit more confident. The debut was pretty solid, but with Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z., you can really hear him levelling up, not just in flow and delivery, but in message too. Pac starts getting more political here, more outspoken, and that energy hits you straight away.
The album has some pretty solid bangers like Holler If Ya Hear Me, ... read more
The wait is finally over: Mobb Deep has released their posthumous album, and they really put in some serious effort on this one. Havoc and The Alchemist show how a posthumous release should be handled. They pulled Prodigy’s (RIP) verses from various sources like his estate, previous recordings, different beats, and reworked or built upon the original production. And the result is nothing less than absolute heat. 2025 is truly for Hip-Hop legends.
The first two singles were already pretty ... read more
After the absolute banger that was Diamonds and Pearls, Prince didn’t slow down at all and dropped another amazing album with Love Symbol (or whatever you pronounce it, lol). Once again, with the New Power Generation behind him, he serves up some amazing R&B, funk, and rock sprinkled throughout. The result is another groovy, smooth, and just plain fun Prince album.
The album hits the ground running right from the start with My Name Is Prince, which is an anthem (maybe even like a ... read more
Stumbled upon this new artist (at least to me), Nourished by Time, after seeing a recent Anthony Fantano review of his newest album. And I’ve got to say, that review made me really curious to check it out — so I did, and wow, I’m absolutely thankful I came across this record because it’s damn great. This is exactly why I love discovering artists that are completely new to me.
What immediately caught my attention is the unique sound of Marcus Brown. Right from the start, ... read more
Okay, to start with, I’ve never really been into Cardi B’s music or rapping style at all. Her debut album wasn’t that great to me (how did THAT win a grammy???), and to me, her voice and delivery just sound so irritating most of the time. Now, after 7 years, she’s back with a brand new album, and you’d hope with that much time, she’d have built something special or at least shown some kind of growth, right? Well, let me tell you, she didn’t.

ONLY RATING/REVIEWING THE DELUXE TRACKS
Well, after the atrocious UY SCUTI, Young Thug decided to drop the deluxe, and I got to admit, I was sceptical at first — and for good reason. The original album was one of Thug’s weakest and most uninspired projects to date. But when I saw some of the track titles on this deluxe version, I actually got a little hyped again, especially since a few of these were known holy grails from his vault.
And, this is exactly the kind of Thug we needed ... read more
Man, Leon just can’t miss, huh? He’s easily one of the most exciting voices in R&B right now, and it’s great to see him finally getting the recognition he’s always deserved. After a pretty solid record with Electric Dusk and then last year’s MUTT, which gave him widespread attention, he’s already back with a new single leading into his next EP.
And I have to say, this might be one of his best tracks yet. The production is very smooth and groovy, with ... read more
Can the biggest pop star in the world finally release an album that feels well-written, exciting, and genuinely engaging again, or is she going to keep dragging out the same style, with surface-level lyricism and predictable storytelling? That’s the main question I had going into The Life of a Showgirl.
This time around, Taylor teamed up with Max Martin again, one of pop’s biggest and most consistent hitmakers. Right away, that sets the tone: this is going to be a full-on pop ... read more
Following the first half of the album, The Vices, Bryson Tiller is back with part two, Solace. To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of The Vices, just like I wasn’t much into his recent self-titled project either. Both felt one-dimensional and lacking any real standout moments. Especially when Bryson leans into his rap bag, those cuts usually feel repetitive, forgettable, and paired with pretty flat production. So I was hoping Solace would bring him back more into his singing-heavy ... read more
Her last album Venus was already pretty generic and lacklustre, so I can’t say my expectations for this one were high. Still, there’s always that curiosity to see if an artist improves. Unfortunately, Midnight Sun doesn’t really show Zara switching things up all that much.
My main issue with Venus was how repetitive the songwriting was, paired with production that leaned on pretty standard Europop and dance beats. It lacked spice, personality, and any sense of real identity. ... read more
The Chronic is pure hip-hop royalty. With this album, Dre really changed West Coast hip-hop forever. After the legendary N.W.A. run and Straight Outta Compton, Dre came through with The Chronic and he absolutely smashed expectations. This is where G-funk took flight: smooth, funky beats, gangsta energy, and everything just hits so perfectly. The vibe is sunny, laid-back LA, but still as raw as rap can be.
The production on this album is absolutely next-level, with Dre showing exactly why ... read more
Wow… this really feels like MOTM1 Cudi back at it again. Unfortunately, it’s his last song for a while, but I respect him stepping away to focus on other passions like movies. At this point, his career has already been pretty legendary, he's definitely one of the defining voices in hip-hop and beyond over the past two decades.
Free, his most recent album, was a solid effort, but for me it didn’t feel like one of his standout chapters. It leaned more into a pop-rock ... read more
Things are moving in the right direction for Doja Cat, I guess? Look, I’ve never been a huge fan of her rapping with the bars being pretty generic, the verses rarely hitting, and too often it feels like she’s leaning into a Nicki Minaj impression or some forced “weird voice” delivery that just doesn’t feel authentic or captivating to me. So going into this album, I was kind of glad she’s steering more into pop than rap. Scarlett was way too hit or miss for me ... read more
Well, after 7 years, Mariah Carey is back with a new album, and if I may be honest… this one wasn’t really needed. She’s a legend, no doubt, with hits and a legacy that’s untouchable, but Here For It All just shows that at this point in her career, she’s not switching things up or bringing anything fresh. After such a long wait, you’d expect something more fully cooked, but these 11 tracks just don’t cut it for a proper comeback.
Most of the album ... read more
Finally, Young Thug is back with a brand new album after being released from prison. His first since Business Is Business, which dropped while he was still locked up, and now he’s properly back with something fresh. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious about it. Thug has always been unpredictable — sometimes dropping pure brilliance, other times just coasting in that safe, mainstream trap lane.
That’s exactly why I went into Uy Scuti with mixed feelings. On one ... read more
Following two pretty good singles that already had me wondering what direction the album would take, Kevin’s back with most likely the last single before the big drop in a few weeks. And with Dracula, he switches things up once again. Where End of Summer was a full-on house jam, vibey and hypnotic, and Loser leaned more into the classic Tame Impala groove, Dracula is the full-on dance banger. I can already picture this one blasting everywhere — radio stations, clubs, parties, TikTok ... read more
