Jim Legxacy - idk idk

Best up-and-coming artist out rn

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
76

Big step up from The Melodic Blue: much more engaging production and a nicer balance between style and substance.

Favourites: Ca$ino, I am not a Lyricist, $ex Appeal
Least Favourites: Birds & the Bees, Highway 95 pt.2

Weezer - Pinkerton
89

I'm including the deluxe songs.

The lyrics are quite corny in a few tracks (comically so) and the vocals are awkwardly strained at times. That being said, the emo aesthetic comes together incredibly when it's not being dragged down by one of those 2 things.

Favourites: The Good Life, I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams, You Gave Your Love To Me Softly, Waiting On You
Least Favourites: Why Bother?, Pink Triangle, Long Time Sunshine

Playboi Carti - Playboi Carti
88

Finally relistened to this and wow it's better than I remembered.

Favourites: Location, NO. 9, dothatshit!, New Choppa
Least Favourites: Other Shit, Lame Ni**az, Flex

Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs
80

Some good rap songs

Favourites: Shattered Dreams, Acuzar, The Mint, Cold Summers
Least Favourites: Loosie, Playing Possum

Jeff Buckley - Sketches for My Sweetheart The Drunk
80

Jeff Buckley's voice is beautifully haunting; it lingers heavily in my chest after each and every song of his. Likewise, his songwriting is second to none.

Sketches for My Sweetheart The Drunk obviously lacks the pristine finishing touches of Grace (especially in disc 2) but it still carries the last sparks of Jeff Buckley's talents, which gives it a sense of timelessness. Some of his best songs are present on disc 1 and disc 2 has flashes of greatness nonetheless.

Don Toliver - OCTANE

At least the album cover's cool

Favourites: ATM, Gemstone
Least Favourites: Body, Long Way To Calabasas, All The Signs

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
63

Favourites: Stay Here 4 Life, Helicopter, Stop Snitching

Nujabes - Modal Soul
97

Favourites: Feather, Luv(sic.) Pt. 3, Eclipse, World's End Rhapsody

David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
87

Favourites: Five Years, Moonage Daydream, Starman, Suffragette City
Least Favourites: Soul Love, Hang On to Yourself

EsDeeKid - Rebel
66

The beats are generally good but feel a bit saturated even on this short of a mixtape. EsDee finds some surprisingly nice pockets and makes great use of his accent. Cool first project.

Favourites: 4 Raws. Cali Man, Panic
Least Favourites: Prague, 5am

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
81

Kendrick's peaks are much higher than what Section.80's best tracks have to offer, but this is a solid foundational album with very few lows to speak of - consistently very good.

Favourites: Kush & Corinthians, Kesha's Song, Blow My High, HiiiPower
Least favourites: No Make-Up, Chapter Six

bar italia - Some Like It Hot
65

First 3 songs stand out, the rest of the tracklist doesn't reach very high highs or very low lows.

Favourites: Fundraiser, Marble Arch, bad reputation
Least Favourites: I Make My Own Dust, Cowbella

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future
88

Favourites: Melt Session #1, Walkin, Zatoichi, The Ills
Least Favourites: Troubles, John Wayne, Ain't No Way

Dave - The Boy Who Played the Harp
73

Very different sound to his previous projects, weaker beats than usual imo; I think Dave sometimes struggles to mesh well with the production. James Blake's features are weak but everyone else really elevates their respective songs.

I'm a huge fan of Dave's music, but the replay value of this album is lacking.

Favourites: No Weapons, Raindance, The Boy Who Played The Harp
Least Favourites: My 27th Birthday, Marvellous

JPEGMAFIA - Veteran
81

Rough around the edges but the highlights hit hard

Favourites: 1539 N. Calvert, Baby I'm Bleeding, Rainbow Six
Least Favourites: My Thoughts on Neogaf Dying, Germs

Skepta - JUNIOR'S LAW
75

3-0 Skepta

Jim Legxacy - black british music (2025)
90

Incredibly fresh sound that the UK scene has been desperate for. Jim Legxacy might pave the way for a new era of UK Hip Hop.

Favourites: new david bowie, '06 wayne rooney, d.b.a.b, i just banged a snus in canada water
Least Favourites: issues of trust, dexters phone call

Joyner Lucas - ROUND 2 K.O
20

Lyrical miracle fast rap AND shitty rebuttals AND 90% of the bars are either cap or ass 🔥🔥🔥

Skepta - Round 2
65

A few empty bars, but still far surpasses Joyner's rapping ability.
