Revisiting every LP Album till From Zero drops - 4. A Thousand Suns
I took upon the chance to revisit Linkin Park’s entire discography before the new album drops in 4 days from now. Linkin Park continues their pattern of switching their sound on A Thousand Suns.
Well, they can’t ever stop to amaze me with the sheer versatility. A one-off concept album, ridiculously well done that too. A Thousand Suns seems to revolve around a dystopian world plagued with nuclear warfare and what ... read more
Revisiting every LP Album till From Zero drops - 1. Hybrid Theory
I took upon the chance to revisit Linkin Park’s entire discography before the new album drops in 7 days from now. I had never done any album front to back from them, so here we start with Hybrid Theory.
Incredible debut, first of all! From the pristine nu-metal production to the angsty songwriting, this is rap-rock perfected. MC Mike Shinoda is incredible on this, from the ridiculous flow-switches to a lot of genius ... read more
First Time Listening to Pink Floyd
I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. My typical image of Pink Floyd had always been “the first to do psychedelic right”. But let’s talk about Wish You Were Here.
This is a such a beautiful tribute to their former band member Syd, the entire record pretty much seems to revolve around his downfall and what caused it. Grief and sorrowed pangs filled this album to the brim, and I loved every second of it.
Hauntingly Beautiful
Quadeca's artistic progression is crazy, from getting popular from a YouTube diss track to an alternative horrorcore artist, and this album is everything I wanted it to be. He is the sole producer, composer and writer of this entire record, which is something extraordinary. From track 1 to track 11, I was fully engrossed into this very haunting and chilly soundscape he’s managed to create, probably one of the best listening experiences on headphones. It’s ... read more
talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it
Her magnum opus
I really don't have words for this, it's just such a great album. Sat through it front to back in one sitting and not a single dull moment. I loved every single bit of this record.
It's probably time to say she has shifted to a more prominent vocal technique than her older work and I'm all for it. It's just ridiculous how Finneas never runs out of things for her (Taylor and Jack, please take notes, you monotonous mfs). A beautiful album, masterfully ... read more
Easily one of her best
A really short and concise piece of work, but one with minimal flaws. You know it's messed up when the lead single 'Yes, And' is the worst track off the record, but thankfully, the rest of the album saves it. Ridiculous RnB beats, Max Martin really is one of a kind. Might need a couple more listens tho, these are just first impressions.
Yung Lean × Bladee = Tearjerker
This album man. No words, honestly. I’ve been an on-and-off Drain Gang fan, but this took me back to when I listened to Crest for the first time and was absolutely baffled by how good they actually are.
Psykos is another addition to their already incredible catalogue, and it’s ridiculously emotional. Bladee’s angelic vocals on top of Lean’s raw verses are just pure magic.
EVIL BLADEE
Forgot to log this, this is a REALLY AMAZING album. 30 tracks and not a single miss.
Did NOT Expect This
Where do I even start-? Magdalena Bay has been recommended to me quite a lot but I never got around to listening to them. I saw this album absolutely popping off on socials so I decided to give it a try, and holy shit. This might be one of the best synth pop records of all time.
Right when I think I understand what's going on, they just pull everything away and make it sound like something I could not even imagine existing. The concept of metamorphosis, evolving into ... read more
FEMININOMENON INDEED
I didn’t know what to expect from this as a whole conceptual piece of work, I’d only listened to Good Luck, Babe and some singles off this album but I had somewhat of an idea from reviews and reactions that this would be queer centric, something which isn’t very openly done but goddamn, Chappell embraces it without care and makes it an integral part of this album.
I’ve been repping Dan Nigro up for years ever since he’s been the production ... read more
One of the best pop debuts
It’s just amazing how big this album was, at its time, without the backing of many popular producers and writers. It’s just a very personal, very good record.
Cemented her legacy with this
Halsey, or I think I should call her Ashley for this. This is an incredibly personal piece of work, from the first track, right to the end - a whirlwind of different timelines and sounds which definitely make this album a weird listen, but that’s only if you’re listening to it from the point of view of a record.
Ashley is conceptualizing the idea of death through different times and phases in her life, and it goes from wishing for death to wishing for ... read more
GUYS GUYS
there’s a hidden frank ocean feature if you listen to the album backwards at 0.25x and pitched up
Revisiting every LP Album till From Zero drops - 2. Meteora
I took upon the chance to revisit Linkin Park’s entire discography before the new album drops in 6 days from now. I had never done any album front to back from them, so following up their classic debut, it’s Meteora.
This album pretty much takes the raw formula for Hybrid Theory and polishes it even more, with the members getting fully involved in the production along with Don Gilmore. Mike Shinoda takes the pedestal with ... read more
Kendrick’s Victory Lap
Okay, I’ll just get straight to the point, no BS. This is his victory lap. A bunch of West Coast influences and features sees Kendrick Lamar end what is possibly one of the greatest hip-hop runs in recent memory. GNX is his most consistent body of work in a long time. It doesn’t have crazy highs, but it doesn’t have any lows either. Pretty much enjoyed the entire record.
MUSTAAARRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Insane levels of talent and creativity
I’ll probably die on this hill, but Quadeca is among the most talented artists of the past few years. SCRAPYARD, while not as much of a refined work as IDMTHY, it’s purely an amalgamation of different sounds in such a blend that only this guy can pull it off so well.
Every single song has it’s own individuality, which was part of the album rollout, apparently. Quadeca is indulging more into his vocals now and then, but as usual, super ... read more
What a record
Okay, well yes this album is literally a post-nut clarity personified but that doesn’t take away how grandiose it is. My ears have been blessed tonight, can’t believe I had put this on hold for so long. Another favourite of this year.
