Artistic vision is very clear
I love Jennie, her vision as an artist is always so strong with the concept and it actually being followed in the album itself. She takes part in every single process and builds something from the ground up and that’s the reason why she’s my favourite out of the group. This record was very deep and personal with its hit singles sprinkled across. Loved it.
Loving the change in artistic direction
I’ve listened to Miley since her Hannah Montana days and I’ve practically seen every high and every low. While disappointed with Endless Summer Vacation, which was a pretty mediocre pop attempt after the critical success of Plastic Hearts, I always wanted her to delve more into rock and she finally embraces this sound on Something Beautiful.
On this record, Miley steps away from pop and goes the art-rock route. The production is heavy and ... read more
Muse Discography Review #3 (yep, sorry I kinda forgot I was doing this)
Muse continues to build on their rock opera sound, fresh from Origin of Symmetry and take it down an apocalyptic dark environment, which reminds me a lot of Linkin Park’s 'A Thousand Suns’. This, however runs much deeper because it was released around the same time as the Iraq War and it carries the undertones of the end of the world. The songwriting was really good, Matt Bellamy continues to shine on the ... read more
I’ll always love this sound of Hayden with gothic rock instrumentation. This really served a good foundation for the launch of Preacher’s Daughter as her magnum opus.
I haven’t went into the lyrics with that much depth (I actually don’t understand half of it right now, moreso than the Daughters of Cain lore and the absurdly interesting Perverts story), but I just really love some of Hayden’s best vocal performances on this.
Aaron Dessner, The Redemption Lord
All credits to Aaron Dessner for taking over Jack Antonoff as the primary producer for THE ANTHOLOGY. This move might have saved the utter failure of the first album. Undisputedly better production, better artistic direction and songwriting (except the GTA bar, that was horrible I am going to kms), and just an overall well executed, concise and intimate record. I really don't understand the need to drop these many songs, I high-key think it was to break ... read more
Good, but not great
Look, I really appreciate pop music. It’s my favourite genre. Don’t get me wrong, this is a good pop record, it’s just generic.
Call it the Jack Antonoff effect to make something sound like it's been done too many times, because he’s been a too frequent collaborator of too many pop A-listers and he needs to stop lol. Yet, this album is a pretty decent listen. The vocal layering is amazing, Sabrina is a really good singer, no doubt. Lyrically, ... read more
I knew about this album, but I never really got around to listening. Starts off very strong, but kind of gets lackluster towards the end. Really love the production, you can clearly see Kanye and Cudi inspiration all over this record, heck Travis even sounds like Kanye on a lot of these tracks. I liked this record.
Revisiting every LP Album till From Zero drops - 5. LIVING THINGS
I took upon the chance to revisit Linkin Park’s entire discography before the new album drops in 3 days from now. We take a leaf from the beginning with LIVING THINGS.
Starting off with LIVING THINGS, the band returns to their roots, but it’s still different. The rock production is way more electronic now while still taking a few notes from their first two albums. This is arguably a really well written album, some ... read more
Muse Discography Review #1
A friend recommended I check out Muse’s discography and it has been kinda overdue so I went in blind. This record is, well to say the least, very Radiohead inspired. Matt Bellamy has a pretty similar tone to Thom Yorke so I understand the comparison. The overall atmosphere was seemingly like a dark Nirvana record? I don’t know if I’m making sense lol. I liked some of the songs, it’s not outright special but there seems to be a lot of potential ... read more
It was great...until it wasn’t
Man I don't know. The album started off really well. The first half had some really amazing songs, some of her best works to date then towards the end, it just kinda dies out. I wish the record was smaller, maybe 30-ish minutes to clear out the filler tracks. Although I must say, Tate's been experimenting with her vocals and it has proven to be effective and much much different than her older works.
Solid EP, just too short
Like the first track ain’t even a song 😠and man, I don’t like these song lengths. I need bridges and a final chorus, it builds the song and is important. Anyway, Ash is like their best song ever and I loved Hot when it came out.
I liked it
Sombr’s first major release with a label comes with a much more upbeat production but still hovering over his early discography style ballads. His writing has improved a lot, his vocals are arranged amazingly. There’s quite a lot of religious imagery going on here. It just gets a tad but monotonous here and there, but I see the potential.
Chuu the goat no cap
CHUU IS GAY, HAPPY PRIDE MONTH EVERYBODYYYY. Well, that was kinda obvious all these years tho. But this project is really nice and sweet and short. Nothing too special about it, but the title track and Kiss a Kitty are gonna be in daily gym rotation from now on. It was just kinda basic dreampop-ish vibe, nothing too original or experimental (which I expected from the cover) but it’s an overall decent project.
RAHHHHH PINKPANTHERESSSS
okay i’ll stop wilding for a second, this is a really adorable little mixtape. her voice is really bubbly and cute and it adds to her y2k aesthetic really well. she’s blended UK garage and dance-pop incredibly on this record, even having production credits for most of it. Stateside is a really good track and i was surprised to see The Dare on it! fun, super boppy record overall.
Really mature!
I have listened to a few Yungblud singles here and there, and he never stood out to me as a memorable artist, just a more bearable version of mgk (yeah the pop punk wasn’t cutting it) but this was a pleasant surprise. I watched Zombie’s music video and I was really taken aback at how much he’s improved. The vocals on this record are immaculate with the live and raw rock production. I think this suits his voice much better. Really liked it more than I expected ... read more
Decent
Gameboy wasn’t for me but I absolutely loved the fuck out of Gnarly and Gabriela. Mean Girls was a nice slower track and MIA was fun, but overall they can still improve so much more.
I was wrong about this…
On my first listen, I wasn’t really in the mood to listen to music but I just did out of hype and that was kind of a bad decision. I ended up not liking this record at all on first listen. But. I had to give it another chance, surely.
I really liked this on today’s re-listen. This record is super groovy and really fun to dance to. Coming from Chromakopia, an incredibly personal album, Tyler completely shifts his focus on DON’T TAP THE GLASS and ... read more
It’s good…background music
See, I like the chill production all over this and I would definitely love this playing in the background all day but that’s just all this is- it just gets very repetitive and there’s hardly any interesting moments. Clairo’s delivery isn’t really the best and when I’m concentrating on an album listen, the last thing I want is something to sound like I would put on while I’m studying. Could’ve been better.
