A new and interesting direction for the rapper/songwriter, but often feels too derivative and lacks what makes fakemink amazing.
It’s more Don Toliver. I’m more surprised that he’s gone this long without a real classic or any genre (re)defining stuff. He’s kept evolving his own sound but his mark on hip hop as a whole peaked on CAN’T SAY. Anyways this album is pretty good, and shows some of Don Toliver’s best beats and melodies., while still just being more of the same stuff I’ve come to expect since Life of a Don.
Totally mesmerizing and soothing, Luminescent Creatures houses some of the prettiest sounds I've ever heard. Each song plunges you into it's eloquent symphony and leaves you wanting more. Combining the instrumentals with Ichiko's monumental songwriter capabilities results in a divine blessing to the ears.
