Boldy James - The Bricktionary
75

This album is a solid example of Boldy's style working effortlessly well over smooth trap production. Its nice hearing different sides of him as he continues to work with a wide range of producers. This project hit an especially good groove during the middle portion.

Poppy - Negative Spaces

This is an awesome bounce back from Zig last year which I felt was a little weak for Poppy’s standards. Comparatively, this thing goes way harder while bringing tons of energy and more fleshed out songs. Love to see Poppy develop her metal influences even further while still bringing a powerful variety of moods here. I would put this right on par with I Disagree.

Rome Streetz - Noise Kandy 5
80

This has to be up there as one of Rome Streetz' best projects, and for me personally its become a clear favorite. The varied production is high quality throughout and Rome rips through all of it with ease. I'm loving the dark and gritty tone of the whole thing with some standout tracks that are really out there and nightmarish like Go Raw and Black Magic. Rome always manages to effortlessly spit verses loaded with memorable lines, his performances making this project a huge highlight ... read more

Playboi Carti - ALL RED
50

Most generic song Carti's put out in a while and I have loved a lot of his 2024 singles. Sounds like a throwaway

Doechii - Alligator Bites Never Heal
85

The versatility, the bars, the production... this project is so much fun to listen to and I still feel like Doechii is just getting started. She's such a skilled artist and fits very well into TDE. So many highlights throughout this impressively raw and honest mixtape.

The Alchemist - Black & Whites
80

Everyone involved here killed it. I wasn't sold on Big Hit as a rapper before this but I love his energy, plus the production goes very hard for the most part. Gonna be a fun album to bump over the summer

St. Vincent - All Born Screaming
90

Annie Clark does it again. This album hit me hard on impact and stays very engaging every time I go back. Sonically, it feels like a meld of many elements from her back catalog but the overall vibe is heavy and cinematic. She also makes a few interesting left turns here that really resonated with me like So Many Planets, Violent Times, and especially Big Tme Nothing, the bounciest track on the album. also, Broken Man remains one of her greatest bangers and generally one of the hardest songs I ... read more

Don Toliver - Attitude

sick production, great melodies from everyone song is stuck in my head constantly right now

Logic - College Park
60

pretty decent songs but so many god awful skits

Iglooghost - Tidal Memory Exo
90

total insanity.. yeah this is a real AOTY contender for me right now. iglooghost packs so much complexity into this album, and it is mind melting to try and catch all the sonic details here. he also brings a lot more hip hop influence this time compared to his past work which i love personally. it all flows together as an album experience very well making for such a cohesive listen. gonna be bumping this one for a while, its just a super interesting and layered project that absolutely ... read more

Conway the Machine - Slant Face Killah
60

conway in a bit of a slump lately, feels like he's just coasting on his last handful of projects. still some good stuff on here- mainly in the first half. also, they really got my hopes up for nothing with that raekwon feature..wouldve loved to hear him rap on that alc beat.

Nourished By Time - Catching Chickens
80

getting really addicted to this guys music. i love how he has created his own lane with a combination of off kilter singing, mesmerizing production, and super sticky melodies. he only continues to blow me away on catching chickens, with hell of a ride and poison-soaked being the EP's greatest highlights. excited to keep listening to the world nourished by time is building.

St. Vincent - Broken Man

WE ARE SO BACK
yes I’m a stan but this is one of her hardest singles ever. it absolutely rips. good to see her ditching Antonoff for this upcoming album (loved their work together but its time), i think we’re in for some wild shit

Griselda - Don’t Get Scared Now
90

excellent project from griselda’s earlier days, with nasty, sinister production from front to back. it’s amazing hearing mach-hommy spitting alongside WSG and conway plus there’s a prodigy appearance to end it off. this is just a great listen

Aesop Rock - Integrated Tech Solutions
85

awesome stuff, aesop sounds very good still and hasn't even lost a step. i love the way he experiments with flows on a level I havent heard him do in a while and his song topics are as cool as ever. his production has also gotten more dynamic...there are some amazing beats on here. this is his best work since the impossible kid, dude has a ridiculous discography at this point.

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
95

this is an angry, hostile album. one of the darkest and most disgusting that i’ve heard, no contest. yet it is endlessly replayable and fun to listen to which is mind blowing. just insane to be able to deliver all these qualities on one LP.

Poppy - Zig
55

unfortunately a kinda middling album from poppy who has reached super creative and catchy peaks in the past with some of her other work. this one just felt low impact and directionless, it didn’t really leave any impression on me. church outfit goes hard though.

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight
85

nothing but smooth and catchy bangers. this was top tier pop rap from travis, and has a lot of his best hooks

Westside Gunn - And Then You Pray For Me
55

hoping this is the last time we have to hear WSG clumsily rap over generic trap beats for almost an entire album... I understand him wanting to do something different but this has to be his worst project in my opinion. for an artist as consistent as him this is a small blemish in his normally great catalog.

MIKE - Burning Desire
85

this is immaculately produced, the sample selection is absolutely beautiful all the way through and i love MIKE's weary, measured flows. he only gets better and better.
