This band took a spot at Download Festival away from a band that actually deserved it.
If the music was actually good, I wouldn't mind them being at Download, but the music is bad. It's trying to cash in on the hype of Sleep Token, and doing it terribly. This is completely soulless, generic modern "baddie-core" trash. The "president/campaign" gimmick, is just that, a cheap gimmick. There is zero depth to it whatsoever.
So given all that, I'm pissed that ... read more
I've only listened to this album once, and I don't really want to listen to it again. This was one of the most frustrating album listens I've had in a while.
I generally like Sleep Token, they are capable of writing songs that I enjoy, and they do so here with songs like Look to Windward and Emergence. But they are also capable of writing songs that I get nothing out of, and that is what most of this album ends up being.
This album is basically the same 3 songs the band has ... read more
Upon first listen, I'm really split with my thoughts.
One on hand, it feels just really fake/forced. It sounds completely soulless and i dont know why.
But on the other hand, i know that this band is actually really talented. Especially ii, that man is a beast on drums. Like with Emergence, there is definitely something here, I think I just need to let it grow on me.
I'll listen to it more times on better headphones before I give it a proper rating, but as of now, I really ... read more
I mean... it's good, but i think i'm just kinda tired of Sleep Token's sound.
I saw someone else's review that said it's a TMBTE B-Side, and I agree. It's not really that different compared to songs like Ascensionism or the title track of that album. Same kind of structure/progression. It's not a inherently a bad thing, but it's already getting stale.
The sax at the end feels like gimmicky to me honestly, if it was incorporated earlier into the song I ... read more
Jinjer reviews in prep for Duel: #2 - Inhale, Do Not Breathe
I hadn't listened to this prior to this review, so I was a bit surprised by how... not like Jinjer this is.
Obliviously the band's DNA is still here., but the overall song writing is so unlike what the band would go to do. To put it simply, the songs sound like 2000's to early 2010's metalcore like on Until the End and Scissors. OR they sound like 10,000 days era Tool in the more progressive cuts like on ... read more
