A masterclass on "never let them know your next move". Genuinely insane album throughout.
well that was the happiest two hours of my life... can't believe it took me 3 years to get to this
to add to this review, think of this album like a 5 course meal created by the finest chef in the world specifically for u. It feels like never ends, but u don’t want it to. The moments ur experiencing that meal are enough to satisfy urself for a long time. That’s what it’s like to listen to this album.
I have a stupid rule about music releases: I never listen to the deluxe albums and I never listen to the bonus tracks. My line of logic is simple: it wasn't part of the original vision, so listening to that wouldn't elevate my experience, it's just a whole different thing. Clearly, this stupid logic made me miss out on this for months. Even as "BLACK'!ANTIQUE" came out and was expectedly peak, I always knew "NEGRO" was the actual magnum opus, even if I ... read more
maybe Metro Boomin was too harsh on J Cole, as Ovrkast is truly the rapper that will put u to sleep
a simply gorgeous album that will keep u in a trance until it's over, somehow leaving u wanting more. it's peam
I did it. I beat the cosmic entity that was preventing me from listening to this iconic mixtape. No joke, I tried listening to this tape about 4 or 5 times in the past year or so, and every time I did I got stopped by some external or internal “force”. Not only that, but I just straight up forgot all about this album. Last time I tried listening to this (like a few days ago) I got hit with the tiredness and fell asleep while listening, then got interrupted by my dad who entered the ... read more
Jimmy improves on all fronts, giving us his most original, cohesive, and consistent project yet.
Don't get me wrong, this album isn't "good" by any means. The ideas are undercooked and it's not super fun to listen to. However, I will give it this: I've never heard songs like this before. It takes guts to accidentally make power noise out of rage. The bass is so loud it completely takes over the mix and all the songs are mixed like absolute ass. It's genuinely kinda entertaining to see how fucked this album sounds. I think this sound has potential, but ... read more
run the jewels extended sounds like shit wtf are yall smoking
AFTER YEARS OF WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT and after the deletion of all their albums on streaming services :( they finally FINALLY released some new shit
With literally any other band, I would say "this is too little too late", but considering Standing on the Corner's release schedule, it's a fucking miracle this came out at all.
i have no idea how a duo that has worked so well in the past suddenly and so effortlessly makes a pretty shit record. It's not all shit, though. Most of the runtime is bland, uninteresting, and aggressively mid... which is surprising from two pretty interesting artists! What really brings down the album is Peggy's performance, oh my god. I don't care if they're not taking themselves seriously, but his performance basically backtracks literally almost all of his evolution as ... read more
“Oh man… I’m so sad and I need to vent on a song”
*starts producing and writing the song*
“Hmmm, I think this song would hit even harder if I got some help from a feature… but who…”
*after some more producing, he stops*
“Oh! I know! Dave Blunts!! What a genuine lovely guy, imma call him”
*he calls Dave Blunts*
“Mhm.. yup, I need u on a new song I’m working on, it’s about me giving my cousin head, it’s really ... read more
