Heavensouls’ sound collage/ambient sensibilities work really well against the Nigerian sounds he’s using, but his pacing turns these albums into black holes
A little too much of this is a bit bland and unoriginal, but this is otherwise a pretty great rap album
Very pretty, very texturally and rhythmically exiting at some points, but not quite often enough
You couldn’t really pack any more personality into an album if you tried
03/26 - Pretty solid, maybe a grower, not quite the quality of the singles
Updated wow this grew on me, the singles are probably still the best three songs on the album, and it’s got some pretty bad sequencing, but April’s pop chops are undeniable
Good stuff looking forward to a longer experience
Nettspend is just as dynamic and expressive as usual, and manages to cut down on bloat. Great album definitely growing on me more and more
I'm not one of those assholes who's going to say "this is how rage SHOULD be done 🤓☝️", but Nerd Rage is a beautiful innovation thank you slayr
So so boring- all the character that Keem had on his earlier work is gone here, and the higher production value does nothing but make his simpler production style seem amateurish and clunky. Kendrick seems to understand the vibe but everyone else, especially Keem play it so straight-faced to the point of being agonisingly melodramatic and self-important.
Pretty great debut-ish mixtape- lots of unique and charismatic rapping all over and an impressively cohesive (if very very 2019) sound across the tape. There are a couple standout songs here, for great hooks, beats or verses, but there’s also some pretty shit stuff too
Every pivot here is (in retrospect) a complete no-brainer, and these guys nail it basically every time. There are moments where I think the internet diy charm is polished off, but this is a pretty awesome follow up.
