I can tell this one’s gonna be a favorite of mine.
I don’t know why but I can visualize this album so unbelievably well. I don’t have synesthesia and if I do, I haven’t been diagnosed with it. I doubt I ever will because I doubt I have it. Though, I see the edges of the soundscape so clearly. The instruments to me are on the sides and they’re almost like golden and rainbow scribbles; they’re practically drawn by a pre-schooler. In the middle of it all, the ... read more

Where do I start with this album? Like, I genuinely do not know where to start. “Pink Moon” by Nick Drake is one of THOSE albums for me; I’ve grown such a personal connection to the art that it really feels like it’s mine. I remember my first listen to “Pink Moon” really vividly actually, which is odd since I was disappointed for the most part. I honestly didn’t think it was anything special; I thought it was ... read more

Kanye was one of those artists for me. He actually used to be my favorite musical act period. Once I genuinely measured his actions, the magic began to fade, which is honestly kind of sad because I used to absolutely adore his stuff; it meant a lot to me when I was younger. Listening to this album now feels so weird. It’s what I imagine walking into your childhood bedroom after college is like. Sonically, the music is really great. It’s loaded with synth and bass while ... read more
Holy crap. Dude, this is simply wow. There’s something about “Getz/Gilberto” that has always drawn me to it. I have no idea why it took me so long to listen to the album though. It’s always been a record that I pushed back. Now that I’ve finally listened to it, I can say that I’m no longer missing out. This is some of the most comforting music I’ve ever listened to period. Though I can’t understand the lyrics that well, there’s something ... read more
FKA twigs is genuinely one of the most consistent artists of this modern age. “EUSEXUA” coming in at 11 tracks in length is absolutely phenomenal with it being one of her most grand projects period. The soundscape to this record feels so cold, smooth, and dystopian (I imagine like a society with structures completely based off of Apple’s magic mouse). Twig’s vocality throughout the entire album was simply amazing and it amplifies the ethereal-feeling soundscape tenfold. ... read more

It’s kind of insane to me how music genuinely grows with someone, especially in such a short amount of time. I’ve known about My Chemical Romance since I was a little kid but my first listen to “The Black Parade” was literally 2 months ago now. Wow, this has absolutely grown into a favorite of mine. It genuinely feels like I’ve lived a lifetime (ironic) with this record. From singing “I Don’t Love You” with my mom in the car to not ... read more

Every time I listen to this album the more I realize how much it means to me. The Strokes, despite only started listening to them a year ago, really are a band that has grown with me. I feel like I’ve known them pretty much my entire life and this record especially means the world to me. The warm, fun soundscape they create is something that can constantly play in my ear without me getting tired of it. The intimacy of Julian Casablancas’ lyricism really ... read more
Is it crazy to say I enjoyed the second half of this album a bit more than the first? System of a Down’s 3rd record “Steal This Album!” was honestly a ton of fun. I think the story of it the unfinished work getting leaked really adds to my enjoyment of the entire project, even though I am typically not a fan of unfinished music. I will say with the unfinished factor there are a lot of holes that do stand out to me. “36” could have been such a better song if it just ... read more
Though, I will say my expectations were set a little high as the sophomore album of Death Grips is a title I would be expecting to be great, and those were expectations were fairly met. Of course a little part of me wants another “The Money Store” but I appreciate what this record is doing a lot. The enigmatic soundscape that the band is creating with only a couple of layers is extremely impressive to me; I really enjoy the darkness of this entire album. Even with the fact that I ... read more
Yeah, I definitely should’ve started with this one over “Ants From Up There.” Black Country, New Road’s debut album “For the First Time” is extremely ambitious, especially for their first record. The main selling point for me is the beautiful instrumentation throughout the entire album. The whole band really comes together to create a complete and dense experience that I especially enjoy. Though I will say there are a couple of flaws. I’m not sure if ... read more
This is so absolutely killer. “Heavy Rocks” by Boris is my second album that I’ve listened to from the band and wow is it great. I don’t think there was a single point where I was bored on this record and me getting bored happens VERY frequently. Boris keeps it consistent with their multiple styles of instrumentation that to me is extremely refreshing to my taste pallet. What there isn’t for vocals, there are double the amount of riffs and percussion. Some tracks ... read more
Ugh, this is so good. Mitski has always been that artist that I’ve only heard a couple tracks from and enjoyed the few that I did listen to. Which implies that I hadn’t really known what I was exactly expecting when coming into this record. MAN I decided to listen to this album at the perfect time. Mitski’s lyricism had really resonated with me, it’s not trying to be too daring and in my opinion it allows the listener to really absorb what she’s really trying to ... read more
400 Follower Special (Thank you so much):
Man do I sure regret making the og review to this literally only say “Goonworthy.”
This album. This album will forever hold a special place in my heart. I still vividly remember my first listen to this record and how much I connected to it. Neutral Milk Hotel’s masterpiece “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” is my definition of perfect. From front and back literally everything about this is flawless. Jeff’s voice is so ... read more
I only had just discovered this band I kid you not like 3 days ago by browsing through someone’s profile and now I think I’m in love. Everything about this EP is really great to me, though I do think some tracks could’ve been fleshed out more. Even with that flaw I still find myself being captivated by the instrumentation and the singing.
