Lil Darkie - SWAMP

TV Girl - Fauxllennium
72

Good for TV Girl, but George Clanton could do so much better.

Eli S-L - the life and death of a vaquita (for biology)
90

Been workin on this one and a couple more for a while now… new album with a friend of mine coming out soon.

Bull of Heaven - 005: A Lovely Pear
75

Completely fine. Nothing wrong with this song/album at all. Very peaceful and calm, definitely seeing myself sleeping to this in the future. Doesn’t really make for the best listen but oh well.

André 3000 - Moving Day
80

I like moving day a good deal. But was there really need for it to be reversed and put as a different track? Also the unreleased song is fine.

Kendrick Lamar - GNX
92

Well, leave it to Kendrick Lamar to drop an album the middle of nowhere and drop one of the best albums of the year

Swans - LIVE ROPE
99

Threw me straight back to when I saw them live in April 2024. Nearly perfect, with back to back to back amazing tracks. $220 was not wasted.

The Cure - Songs of a Lost World
85

it’s a good album released by the cure in 2024. What more is there for me to say?

Mount Eerie - Night Palace
98

AOTY. No question.
This is the absolute perfect amalgamation of everything Phil has made so far under any name. We have the soft, tender moments from A Crow Looked at Me mixed with the harsher sounds of Wind’s Poem and Mount Eerie, plus the synths from The Glow pt. 2 that come together and wrap this project all together so nicely. Phil’s vocals haven’t aged a day and sound great as always, but the lyrics this time around are amazing. These songs are more like canvases for Phil ... read more

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Phantom Island
95

Woah, I never knew I needed this in my life lol. King Gizz heard The New Sound and said they could do that and they can.

Colin Stetson - Hereditary (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
80

Pretty good film score with an amazing song at the end. I have never seen the movie but I’m sure it’s also pretty good. Colin creates some really good soundscapes, and I think I should check out some more of his stuff. However, some songs feel very similar, almost too similar, and I don’t like how some songs just cut off out of nowhere.

John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette - Gateway
97

How I haven’t rated this yet is absurd. This album truly got me into music and is one of my favourites of all time. The premise is simple: three guys in a room, playing the three most standard instruments you could have in a band, but the way they play them and the sounds they make create a vivid world in my mind, and it just works so fucking well. But then again, this could be the autism speaking so idk

Low - HEY WHAT
87

Heartbreakingly crushing in a different way than any other low album I have heard. While it is not the low I know, this new sound and change from them is always welcome in my ears, and will continue to crush me even more. Speaking of crushing though, so many songs on here have fairly poor mixing to the point where it’s probably intentional. It’s not a deal breaker, but maybe less of that kind of stuff please? Still great tho

Xiu Xiu - The Air Force
82

Fine little Xiu Xiu album with some great instrumentation on some parts such as the ending of wig master and bishop, ca, but it’s still a Xiu Xiu album, so it has all of their weird lyrics that throw me off every now and then. overall a good album that stays fairly consistent throughout even with some of the weak parts.

Ramleh - Hole in the Heart
75

good noise music where I can actually tell what instruments are being played! in all seriousness though, hole in the heart continuously tries to keep me scared and kinda fails to do so. enjoyed some of the samples tho

Carissa's Wierd - Songs About Leaving
92

So soft and lush and sad this album is, but definitely not weird. Carrissa’s Weird’s final album is a great slowcore album which’s heights compare to some of the best of the genre. Shame that this band only had three albums in their lifetime, would’ve loved more had they kept this sound.

Chat Pile - Cool World
85

as a person who has not listened to any new metal albums, this is definitely metal aoty. Songs like shame and masc are really good and the whole album flows insanely well in a way I’ve never seen from a metal album besides PetroDragonic Apocalypse. Definitely looking forwards to more from Chat Pile.

Alexander Gregory Kent - Alexander, I am not a Saltlick
82

Although much weaker than his previous works in my opinion, Alexander Kent is able to reach the high points of his previous works, but just not as consistently. The song Saltlick is by far the best, but the ending of Pricks in the Snow is good as well, as well as ZZ TOP PRICK at the very end sounding straight out of the last album. I can see why that shearling song was rejected though.

Sematary & Ghost Mountain - HUNDRED ACRE WRIST HOSTED BY DJ SORROW
85

Listened to this with really shit earbuds on a bus ride to and from a marching band comp and was pleasantly surprised by this project. I haven’t really enjoyed much of semetary’s music and I haven’t heard of ghost mountain ever, but both held their own surprisingly well. The three track run at the end is amazing.
