Danny Brown is one of my favorite rappers of all time. His recent run of albums has been really strong and his concerts even better. However, some of his earlier music hasn’t held up as much as his newer stuff, and Old is no exception. While containing many good songs such as my personal favorite Smokin & Drinkin, Old contains many filler songs and could easily be trimmed down to become a bit of a better album. I do like the concept of the whole Side A being mellow and Side B ... read more

A beautiful album that, unfortunately, put me to sleep since Michigan (the state) fucked up my time. Greetings from Michigan, The Great Lake State, more commonly shortened to just Michigan, is the third album by Sufjan Stevens, and the first in his 50 states project which fell through. Don’t take my words the wrong way though: Michigan is still an amazing album.
Sufjan is able to write these perfectly crafted musical pieces and then pull out the most lush voice to fit the music and ... read more

What do you get when you mix peak lyricism with two charismatic MCs and really good production? You get Aquemini, the third album by ATL duo OutKast. One of the most acclaimed rap albums of all time, Aquemini is full of great beats with great lyrics for nearly an hour and a half. If you haven’t heard this album yet, do yourself a favor and listen to this project. Even the skits are good! You know something is good of the skits are good.
One more album today… Michigan by ... read more

D’Angelo. One of the best singers of the 90s and 2000s with one of the most famous music videos. But if we ignore that song, aka Untitled, and also remove Spanish Joint and Devil’s Pie, we have an album which is pretty creative but repetitive to the point of boredom. The songs are still good, though. They just could’ve been shorter. Only exception to that is Untitled. That could’ve been 10 minutes and I would be fine with it.
This is probably the last album I ... read more

Ah, Modest Mouse. The whiny Midwest Emo turn Indie Rock band from the late 90s is back at it with another really good record for listening to during a plane ride. Although it is nothing new or special for them in terms of their discography, it is a really solid effort all around and a good starting point for the band.
By the way, I am still on the plane. The next album I will listen to is… Voodoo, by D’Angelo

Porter Robinson is a name I have been familiar with for the past year, and I have never really been into his music. However, once my friend from summer camp put me on to the song “Knock Yourself Out XD,” I knew that this album would kick some serious ass.
Porter’s third and newest album, “SMILE! :D,” is currently my personal AOTY, just barely edging out samlrc’s most recent album, “A Lonely Sinner.” Kudos to that album too, really good ... read more
Thanks Invincible for showing me the song Final Days and getting me to listen to this album. It’s some very soulful stuff and more proof that danger mouse is one of the goat producers.
A really great depiction and documentary on the Iraqi war and some really good music behind it as well.
It’s a very big mess, but the standout tracks really stand out against the crowd and may prove to be one of Glover’s best.
Nah Florida be trippin since I was last there
Straight heat all around, no complaints here.
Def the best single off of the album so far. I now am plotting to commit arson with malicious intent.
That was rough, boring, and unimaginative for any album, but especially for a concept album using one of the most beloved alter-egos in rap history. Best verse on the album goes easily to Ken Kaniff on Guess Who’s Back, 2nd only to JID.
