Not as impressive as I’d hoped after the great singles, but damnnnn can they write a tune. Catchy, hooky, melodic, guitar-y. Def their most polished work yet, but it kinda makes me miss their messier DIY post-punk energy
Very interesting record from band who will turn on a dime from slowcore haze to heavy shoegaze edge. Sneakily good vocals as well
Wanted to get more familiar w their debut since their new album comes out next week, and holy shit I think this is my new favorite band
Production this good should be illegal. I’m just grateful to be alive at the same time as jazz rap
I just find it cool that this kind of ‘80s synthpop is still being made in 2025. Great production
A big drop off from her debut… I prefer the homespun charm of her earlier bedroom pop to the atmsopheric, ethereal shein of this record. I do enjoy the experimentation on her vocal treatment and some of the drums on here, but Aperture clears
I love shoegaze because I can’t make out the lyrics at all so i get to just invent my own
Some very high quality FIFA soundtrack indie pop bops here. Very well produced with sticky melodies. Looking forward to his long-awaited debut LP!
No idea why they felt the need to add three lackluster throwaways. OG album is a banger tho
I've been a proud Daniel Caesar fan since CS01 and it has been great to see his production become sharper and more adventurous over the years, but this record just doesn't do it for me. He has one of the most beautiful voices in the entire world, but it feels like he thought featuring Bon Iver and Blood Orange and making the songs 5+ minutes long would automatically make everyone believe it's a masterpiece. It's good, but not quite a masterpiece.
superbly boring and unimaginative! kevin needs to go back to guitar music. the contrast of sounding depressed while making dance music is well-tread ground. thoroughly disappointed :(
The fusion of her conservatory-level violin expertise, glitchy breakbeats, hyerpop-esque twinkles, and dynamic drum sounds/rhythms are all great ideas, but this album just falls apart in the run between "A COMPUTER LOVE" and "MS. PAC MAN." Sudan Archives clearly has one of the most interesting brains in the electronic dance space right now, but this record would have been stronger if it were around like 11 tracks instead of 15.
a very interesting independent debut from a producer who seemed to come out of nowhere. excited for more from this kid
A most gentle and delicate album. The quiet atmosphere encourages passive listening, but fails to achieve any real emotional response. Beautifully composed and wonderfully airy, but there needed to be a little more bite imo, or even just some catchier melodies
Somehow even better than their miraculous debut from last year. I didn’t expect to love this so much after being only lukewarm on the singles, but I will never get over the Gothic grandeur of their songcrafting. Only critique is that a couple tracks have guitar riffs that sounds like Arctic Monkeys, but Abigail Morris might be my favorite vocalist on the planet rn fr
South London is soooo fire rn. This has some really cool, jangly indie sleaze/anti-britpop cuts, but I don’t always enjoy the atonal vocals. His voice sounds dead on like Kele Okereke of Bloc Party at times
This duo is super gimmicky — vocals mirroring the Y2K vibes of Alanis Morrissette and Imogen Heap, paired with bloopy synths that twinkle like bubbles rising to the surface — but what can I say? The gimmick absolutely works. With these two EPs and Oxis' recent releases, aquamarine indietronica is UP
Folk Clairo has arrived. Did you know that Dijon is in the new PTA film?
Giving strong Metric, Pixies, and Smashing Pumpkins vibes w the guitar. Some solid indie rock angst here with weirdly good production (like seriously where did these guys come from and why is the production so good??) but there’s nothing really inventive here
The album loses a bit of steam after the riproaring start of the first three tracks, but what a voice!! The highly-produced pristine pop tracks are def stronger than the quiet acoustic tracks, but it’s all super catchy
