Although being kind of formulaic, this was a solid album. Very peaceful and enjoyable vibes, it's definitely not hard to listen to. There's something wholly serene about this that I just can't put my finger on. The themes were solid, and this is a pretty unique album. It flows well together, and it's very consistent. However, at points, it feels like the same couple of songs repeated.

What an experience this was! This album is way ahead of its time in many different areas. The brazen defiance of cultural norms and the critiques of the pop culture of the period was super interesting to hear (and also pretty funny). The fact that this is so conceptual, and so well tied together puts it above many other albums of the same time. It was also super trippy, which doesn't put it in any special category, but it was cool. However, the tracks on here don't have much replay value. If ... read more

I rated this higher the last time I reviewed it. Part of that was my inexperience with the time period, and another was my unfamiliarity with the band. After over a year of listening to this album, I've decided to bring my score down a little bit. Most of my original analysis still stands though. I think this is very impressive for a debut, and there are some great songs on here. Sure, it does sound like some other albums of the time, but I don't think they necessarily bit the style completely. ... read more
Hinds - The Prettiest Curse

Do you wanna give yourself a headache in only 32 minutes? If so, this is the album for you! The melodies on here were really good, too bad they were all basic pop melodies. The energy is carried throughout, but it seems like it's too much, there isn't a break. And the vocals! Extremely grating and unappealing. At some points this is decent, but most of the time it's a disjointed mixture of extremely loud and grating vocals over quieter instrumentals. Not a bad album, but it's also not good.
Woods - City Sun Eater in the River Of Light

This was a very solid album. It flowed well, there was a good mixture of influences, and the energy was hardly lost throughout. Things seemed to repeat, but it was pretty subtle, and it helped the album remain in style. My only major critique is that it isn't as psychedelic as I think it was trying to be. Definitely a good album though, and solid psychedelia nonetheless.

Hey Ethan.

So I made a list full of records that I wanted to recommend to anybody possible.

If you have very obscure record (say not enough to register for the charts), then comment a recommendation. I would like to put more obscure things on that list.

Sup Ethan!

I made a genre list of every album I enjoy in each genre and if you want I'd like some suggestions for albums in a genre either I didn't list, an album that you would deem better in that genre or for inaccuracies.

Hey there! I’m making a community list for the end of the world, and I would love for you to contribute.

Prompt:

“The surrounding buildings, in ruins. The remaining survivors, scrambling to find anything that remains. Fire flickers in the pitch-black, creating just a sliver of radiance. Miraculously, you find an old device that can play music. You can only play one album as the battery is nearly dead. Knowing that you have little time left, what is the one album that you choose to listen to as you watch the world crumble before your eyes?”

The album topic could discuss a disastrous time, its sound could fit the vibe of a post apocalyptic setting, or it could be one of your favorite albums that you would want to experience for the last time.

Please provide the artist, album, and an explanation as to why you chose that specific album.

Thank you for reading <3
