With the 3rd album KGATLW made in October 2022, they manage to imporve upon the other 2 made earlier. This feels like the culmulation of insane hours of studio time that forms into a 40 minute jam. Hate Dancin', Astroturf and Gondii are great cuts and despite how many records they make, has me excited for the next one.
Despite the fact that I really enjoyed this project, I can't help but feel like it is overrated a bit. Chaos Space Marine and Good Will Hunting are really good and Basketball Shoes is a crazy way to end the record, but nothing really stands out in this "revolutionary post-rock album" that many claim it to be. However I will always love a band that features a violin prominantly.
This is simply a really fun record. Songs like Subzero and Ninety One shows Action Bronson's overflowing charisma and the rest of the project doesn't disappoint. I was hoping for more food analogies though.
Excluding Freak On a Leash, this album is tough to get through. Jonathan Davis is absolutly not for me with his scatting being unbearable at times. In addition, All In the Family may literally be the worst song I have ever heard. Jonathan Davis and Fred Durst having a rap battle slinging homophobic slurs at eachother with an awful chorus, all ending in a joke that you make to your friend after saying something a little flirty. Just shit.
Very comparable to Regatta De Blanc, still solid though. Can't Stand Losing You begins Sting's trend of writing deeply disturbing songs that are wildly misinterpreted (Every Breath You Take, Wrapped Around Your Finger).
A pretty good project with the best singles (not counting Synchronisity) to come out. Message in a Bottle and Walking on the Moon are classics and the rest of this album doesn't meet those levels, but none of it is bad.
This has some of Sting's worst writing and Don't Stand So Close to Me is good but real uncomfortable. Do Do Do, De Da Da Da si the worst Police hit and is really annoying. There is much better stuff on other records.
Side note: Sting re-recorded Shadows In the Rain for his solo project with a much larger band and it is really good. The best thing to come out of Zenyatta Mondatta.
A much more mature record coming from The Police and Invisable Sun is one of the most subdued and best songs they have recorded. Some of Sting's best writing, good stuff.
Holy shit. I was put off by the album length but it deserves the space it takes. Calling this simply "Post-Rock" does not give it justice, this is orchestral in scale and is absolutly phenominal.
Goddamn this blew me away the first time I heard it. Masterful intersong pacing that leads to this 6-7 minute tracks feel like they fly by in mere minutes. From someone who didn't really enjoy listening to LCD Soundsystem's debut as a record, this absolulty floored me.
I think the only way to listen to this project is to understand and follow the story Rodger Waters is telling. When you do that this becomes the greatest concept album ever. In addition, in the small amount of writing credits David Gilmour has on this album, ComfortablyNumb is one of them, sooooo yeah.
This is the reason why I love rap now. Some of the cleanest production rapped over by some of the slickest lyracists to ever do it. Contextualizing the whole this as a send off piece for Phife Dawg makes it even better. And from a comback record none the less. Masterful.
I mean, its really cliche at this point but... I mean c'mon its Ok Computer. One of the few albums that if someone says is their favorate Radiohead album I don't imedietly hate. (Kid A fanboys are some of the most annoying people on the planet). But yeah, its Ok Computer.
I wish I could go back to a time before I heard this album so I could listen to Robot Stop for the first time again. Instantly gave me chills and the rest of the album never misses a beat. The concept is so interesting and unique that I can exuse Road Train for not being a very satisfying closer, because its not supposed to be. The reason I am a gizz head and now enjoy all 30ish albums of theirs.
This is what The Police were building up to for their very shortly lived run. Some of the greatest pop rock songs to ever be recorded (Including Mother) and one of the best paced albums out there. (Side note Murder By Numbers doesn't count cause it was not on the originial album and if it did it the record would drop to an 85)
This is so unbelivably good but it really hurts to consider yourself a Death Grips fan, just the way it is.
This is quite literally a perfect album. 10 tracks of passion, anger, and rally cries. Does not get much better then that.
This thing hurts to listen to and for the most part I am here for it. Due to how angry the songs are and sound, getting some decent lead guitar feels like a treat and I think the band has a great flow. Shout out to grimace_smoking_weed_.jpeg for being the best titled track ever.
