Pusha T - DAYTONA
90

Push keeps this project both consistent and brief while delivering great coke rap bars, and keeping you always hooked on what he's saying.

Fav tracks: If you know you know, The games we play, Santeria, Come back baby, Hard piano, What would meek do

ScHoolboy Q - BLUE LIPS
92

After a long wait from his disappointing Crash Talk album, Q comes back with a solid introspective project. Weaving between different styles throughout the runtime of the album, Q keeps it feeling fresh without reaching too far out of the realm of what he's known for.

Fav tracks: Blueslides, Cooties, Smile, Germany 86, Nunu, Lost times, Love Birds, Funny guy, Thank god 4 me, Ohio, Foux, Time killers, First, Back n love

ScHoolboy Q - CrasH Talk
71

A bit of a disappointment of an album from Q. Lacks many of the qualities that made his previous projects great such as the fantastic production and, while not bad, Q's performances throughout the project feel a tad bit flat. Not to say the album doesn't have some quality to it in a vacuum, but comparatively to what Q is capable of this comes up a bit short.

Fav tracks: Dangerous, Tales, 5200, Black folk

ScHoolboy Q - Oxymoron (Deluxe)
86

Dark, gritty, and good. Q's most iconic project for a reason. While there are pockets of inconsistency within the album, the highs elevate it enough to be an overall solid body of work.

Fav tracks: Grooveline pt2, Break the bank, Studio, Collard greens, Blind threats, Man of the year, Hell of a night, Hoover street, What they want

ScHoolboy Q - Blank Face LP
91

Undoubtedly Q's best work. Solid lyricism from Q, and coupled with a blend of both groovy and hard-hitting dark beats makes for an overall great project

Fav tracks: Kno ya wrong, John muir, Neva change, Blank face, Black thoughts, Lord have mercy, Torch, Tookie knows II, Overtime, Whateva u want, By any means, Groovy tony, Str8 ballin

On Wither's review of J. Cole - The Fall-Off
"@PostWither I guess I can see how it may come off as lazy. I personally find it fine though given art inherently comes from places of personal experience and perspective anyway, but i understand how it may appear to be dull, especially in the case of Cole who, frankly, has a rather uninteresting writing style at times."
On Wither's review of J. Cole - The Fall-Off
"I'm genuinely curious as to why you think he's rapping about nothing here. I do find Cole's writing to be rather on the nose quite often, but I feel like he took a more mature approach on this album comparatively to much of his prior work. Also, why the negative perspective on him rapping about his own experiences? That's a common feature of a majority of so-called conscious hip hop, not like its something new, unless that in it of itself is the reason you dislike it. Great review nontheless though, even if I personally disagree."

On Phoenix_wrong's review of Ice Cube - Man Up
"@Ableist_abby honestly that explains my thoughts perfectly. West Coast hip hop artists, atleast the mainstream ones, were never able to really evolve their sound and it just leads to all their projects sounding so dull compared to other regions. Especially so considering how washed lyrically a lot of them are now, like with Cube here. Luckily there's some amazing underground or underapreciated west coast artists that still keep that side of the genre alive, atleast aside from some of the more modern big names like Kendrick or Tyler. In their cases though they've obviously completely evolved passed the typical west Coast sound."

"@oSiley Lowkey I don't understand either. I moreso associate drum-less with this kind of mellow production style now more than I do it actually being drumless since the genre basically always has drums."
