This honestly has grown on me quite a bit. While a lot of the lyrics on this are still rather dark and not something you'd want to play in public, the production on here really accompanies that sinister vibe well and creates an interesting atmosphere for the project. That said, there's still undeniably some pretty awful tracks such as Sarah or Tina, which significantly bring this down from what it would be, but id still say as a full album that i actually like it ... read more

Initially was pretty polarized with what to think with this album. While there are some undeniable amazing tracks on here, theres also some real stinkers like the title track, run, and keep da o's. An otherwise quite shit album, and the only Tyler project id say is genuinely bad, BUT, this thing does have She which might be a top 3 Tyler track for me, so it heavily boosts the rating id otherwise give this. Analog is also pretty dang underrated too.

"I'm genuinely curious as to why you think he's rapping about nothing here. I do find Cole's writing to be rather on the nose quite often, but I feel like he took a more mature approach on this album comparatively to much of his prior work. Also, why the negative perspective on him rapping about his own experiences? That's a common feature of a majority of so-called conscious hip hop, not like its something new, unless that in it of itself is the reason you dislike it. Great review nontheless though, even if I personally disagree."

"@Ableist_abby honestly that explains my thoughts perfectly. West Coast hip hop artists, atleast the mainstream ones, were never able to really evolve their sound and it just leads to all their projects sounding so dull compared to other regions. Especially so considering how washed lyrically a lot of them are now, like with Cube here. Luckily there's some amazing underground or underapreciated west coast artists that still keep that side of the genre alive, atleast aside from some of the more modern big names like Kendrick or Tyler. In their cases though they've obviously completely evolved passed the typical west Coast sound."
