Weezer - OK Human
NR

Nice sound and instrumentation. Apart from that, it’s cringe. (It’s Weezer, what do you expect?)

Kings of Leon - When You See Yourself
NR

A sleepy contemporary rock album with great builds and progressions. Unfortunately, a lot of it is pretty forgettable.

Alice Cooper - Detroit Stories
NR

Generic fun rock. In my opinion, he should have quit before becoming average, but I admire that he’s still making enjoyable music.

OFB - Drill Commandments
NR

I like the dark atmosphere, natural flows, and the unapologetically massive bass. Although it has some impressive, honest, and thoughtful bars, it just didn't click with me.

Matthew Sweet - Catspaw
NR

average alt rock with great production on the guitars. All of the other elements are decent.

Nancy - The Seven Foot Tall Post-Suicidal Feel Good Blues
NR

This album sounds like it was a blast to make. It has amazing textures and some cool psychedelic pop familiarities. It does contain a lot of bruh moments... The artist is clearly very talented, yet they chose to make this. It comes off as obnoxiously quirky. I honestly don't know what to say. It's not bad, but its not great. Seems like a waste of talent.

CARM - CARM
NR

With such an all star feature list, I went into this with high expectations. I was very let down. This is just mediocre in every sense of the word. I admire how ambitious CARM was to attempt something like this on his debut LP though.

Langhorne Slim - Strawberry Mansion
NR

This is very boring. It sounds like it would come alive in a concert though. I’ve heard better American folk stuff. I enjoyed the piano and banjo work on this. Nice background music I guess.

Here Lies Man - Ritual Divination
NR

Decent quality original rock songs that feature some compelling rhythms at times. Overall, it’s pretty underwhelming and forgettable though. However, the tracks have some interesting builds and progressions.

Oscar Scheller - Boys Cry
NR

Chill sad bedroom pop. Pretty uninteresting, but it does nail the vibe.

NR

A very direct singer songwriter album. However, it’s so open and direct it feels awkward at times. This album is an admirably honest account of someone’s life experience. Unfortunately, it’s a bit derivative when it comes to singer songwriter stuff. I don’t see why I would listen to this when Fiona Apple exists.

Another Michael - New Music and Big Pop
NR

It sounds like they enjoyed making this. It’s happy and sad at the same time. Not something I see myself coming back to.

Aystar - Scousematic 3
NR

Real life portrayed through grime and drill. The music is very one dimensional sonically, but features very thoughtful lyrics. Unfortunately it’s lack of variation makes it too boring.

Zara Larsson - Poster Girl
NR

Infectious hooks paired with a danceable sound. Great beats. However, all the other elements aren't that good or imaginative. I hate to use the phrase, but if this isn't 'guilty pleasure music', then nothing is. Tracks like 'Need Someone' frustrate me because everything is amazing except for the lyrics which are so derivative its off-putting.

Southeast Of Rain 东南有雨 - 42 Days 四十二天
NR

This is the most distracting ambient music ever. Unique but obnoxious instrumentation. Tries too hard to get your attention.

Painted Shrines - Heaven and Holy
NR

This folk rock has some cool elements, but is pretty underwhelming as a whole (mostly due to the weak falsetto of the singer).

Baio - Dead Hand Control
NR

It sounds like very little effort went into this. This is particularly frustrating because there are some very intriguing ideas on here (like the 2nd half of the title track) that if executed well, could sound amazing. ‘Dead Hand’ is pretty good though.

Portrayal of Guilt - We Are Always Alone
NR

This album is just my cat at 3AM. I love the dark guitar melodies and the interesting production choices.

Tigers Jaw - I Won't Care How You Remember Me
NR

Meh. This has a few nice emotional guitar parts, but everything else is pretty average.

Kiwi Jr. - Cooler Returns
NR

A lower quality and more unoriginal version of the ‘Strokes’. There are some genuinely good moments, but they’re always overshadowed by the mediocrity of the track they’re in. I swear the tracks are all the same.
