When 9 out of 11 tracks are bangers, it's really hard to dislike an album.
The 9 singles on this album were all really crafted with love on this.
Dear God is this thing so fucking lukewarm.
For an album named after fucking Disco, the only tracks I felt even remotely attached to were Coming Up Roses, and maybe, MAYBEEE the Waiting Game, both slow, gentle and pretty songs.
Everything else might as well be fucking fed to the slop machine which is mainstream music nowadays.
I swear sometimes I feel as tho if we just fed the general public actual, enthusiastic music that artists put their whole souls into, we actually would get worthwhile ... read more
Some very cheesy lyrics combined to make some enjoyable horror themed cuts, but unfortunately it doesn't feel like some songs had the same amount of effort put into others.
Incredibly forgettable, I somehow was able to sit through this record in one sitting, attempted to write a review down, and did not know what to talk about, because I was just trying to remember anything a glimpse of anything.
I then tried again today, and uh, no dice, yeah, this was mid af.
Fav Tracks: I don't remember
Least Fav Tracks: I remember I disliked something I think.
When I first listened to this a couple of weeks ago, I skimmed through it while tired, drinking an insane amount of red bull, and overall not just putting myself in the right headspace for it.
After a couple of relistens now, I can defo see I made the wrong assessment.
This album is genuinely really beautiful and has a tapestry colored with gorgeous jazz and funk influence.
With a whole lot of heart and soul, this album captures a collective of humor, heart, soul-search, and a healthy dose ... read more
The Mountain opens up new areas in the Gorillaz catalog that haven't been seen since their experimental masterpiece Plastic Beach.
While I love this band with all my heart, there is no doubt in my mind that since Plastic Beach they've been sort of playing it safe, or just, idk been kind of underwhelming with much of their catalog. The Fall and Humanz just sucked, The Now Now was The Mid Mid, Song Machine was great, but not amazing, and Cracker Island was blander than a cracker.

Pretty fucking darn good.
Also, I cannot be the only one who hears Have a Cigar from Floyd on "Six Figure."
This album genuinely caught me by surprise, mostly cause I hate british people (for legal reasons this a joke)
The production on this record isn't mind blowing by any means, as I feel as tho some tracks had more thought put into them than others, but the end results we got make up for that small amount of nickpickiness my jackass of a mind focuses way too much on. ... read more
Cool ideas that are drowned out by an overabundance of this album trying to be a million different things at once.
The title track is gorgeous tho.
Bonbon is a beautiful piece of work.
This album as a whole really surprised me and never really felt condensed or boring.
And while I do feel overall there are some moments that could've been trimmed or executed more fully, the final cuts of this track list really do exemplify and complete the simple structure of a Space-Jazz Fusion work.
I would love to see in the future if they could incorporate some more vocals, because the few vocalizations and melodies we get on this record feel ... read more
"Alright guys! Stick to the formula!"
"Wait, can we add shitty whiny messy vocals also?"
"Fuck it why not!"
- These guys probably.
My dad makes me play Down Under whenever I'm in the car with him.
He goes "Son, play that song"
I go, "Which one"
He responds "You know, that one"
I say "Oh, k"
