Honestly, going into this, my expectations were EXTREMELY high. However, by some miracle, I'd say they were met.

You can tell exactly why this is such a beloved and influential album. Phenomenally produced and extremely creative and innovative.

Overly pretentious bullshit made for people to feel musically "superior" for listening to it.

Incredibly solid, definitely gonna be a grower. The middle of the album is kinda rough but for the most part this bangs.

Pretty underrated, makes me all the more sad that they've completely lost any and all flair they used to have (and Mike Kerr seems like an insufferable prick).

It definitely wears it's influences on it's sleaves (pretty much every song reminded me of either QOTSA, The White Stripes or DFA 1979) and Kerr seems to embodying either Jack White or Josh Homme with all his vocal performances, but you can't say that none of these songs hit HARD.

Such a bright start for arguably one of the best bands of the 21st century. I do agree with the common sentiment that this album is definitely bloated (around 6 of these tracks are completely unnecessary, ESPECIALLY the "Pretentious Mix" of "Yeah") and it feels more like a mixtape than an album, but so many of these songs absolutely SLAP.

Not as good as 'This Is Happening', but still phenomenal. Definitely more experimental than that album though, but at the expense of lacking the insane number of high points that album did.

Honestly really good. "Hispanic Impressions" is boring as hell, sure, and it should have been replaced with one of the other instrumentals off of the reissue from 2011, but everything else is decent to excellent. A very good, almost Krautrock-y Stoner Rock album.

Also, why wasn't "The Bronze" on the original release??? Easily top 3 off of the album if it was included.
