One of very few songs from the self-titled Bleachers 'era' that I actually enjoy. The softer sound fits a Christmas theme quite well and I think Jack did have a lot of passion for this song.
go figure it's just wild heart but boring
I genuinely don't get what Jack's endgame is with this new sound, slapping it over one of his classics doesn't get me any closer to getting it. This doesn't feel like someone finally shaking off the coat of armour they used to protect their shattered ego a decade ago, this feels like someone trying to recontextualize their trauma into something that it isn't.

This is definitely gonna be one of those sleeper albums this year (pun very much intended).
But for real, I wear my love of Sir Sly on my sleeve, and Landon Jacobs' solo project slides right in with the mainline discography. It's fun and poppy on the surface, while being introspective and thoughtful just below. This album has an undeniable energy and is incredibly fun to listen to.
My biggest critique is that the tracks can start to feel samey. Many have very similar production and ... read more
This is...this is...this is....alright. I acknowledge that I was incredibly negative in my review of Dreamland, but that was the initial disappointment. I was expecting very little from this album going in, and I can say that I was actually pleasantly surprised by a few choices here. The most notable is the abrupt stop at the end of whatthehellishappening? which actually makes the track feel like a part of a concept, which is something Glass Animals has been missing for a long time.

Significantly more interesting than the lead single, but still not blowing me away. I actually like the verses quite a bit, not big on the chorus.
A handful of solid tracks leftover from It's Sorted. The things I said about It's Sorted apply here, maybe to a slightly lesser extent. The tracks are fun and have some solid lyrical content. Overall a good set of tracks with decent production and good writing.

If there's one thing I will always praise Twenty One Pilots for, it's their willingness to go in a new direction when they can and they make something new. Clancy is no exception to this. It's clear the band is taking everything they've learned and trying to find a way to make it all work together to create a career encompassing project.
It's clear the amount of passion that went into this record. I can tell that they set out to make a special record that would stick with fans, and I feel they ... read more
It's their formula no doubt, but it's nice that they're playing into it instead of trying to force some sort of artsy look
excited to see what's coming...
Joywave's fifth studio album shows them at a turning point in their discography. The last time they did this was nearly a decade ago with their debut LP, "How Do You Feel Now?" and now that they've fully explored what they were setting up back then, it's clear they're starting to move into a new direction. That's not to say that this is a wholly new feel for them. There's a lot of typical "Joywavisms" in this record, but I feel like Permanent Pleasure is the start of a major ... read more
Going in, I wasn't expecting much from this album. The lead single and follow up, "Neon Pill" and "Out Loud" really didn't do much other than bore me and make me worried that this would just be Social Cues 2. The following "Good Time" did raise my hopes a bit as it felt like the band trying to extend past what they did on Social Cues, and I did like "Metaverse" since it just sounds fun. Despite this, I still didn't go into this album with high ... read more
Hey at least there's something of interest on this! Unfortunately it's Drug Free America which sounds like an American who isn't drug free...
I don't know what Jack was doing with this whole Bleachers project. Out of 20 tracks (not counting the alternate versions of Alma Mater and Self Respect), I maybe enjoyed 5 or 6. There's so much boring stuff taking up space on this entire project and I just can't understand the vision. Whatever potential vision left was so drowned in reverb and stock ... read more
A fun track. Was expecting worse from a song called "Metaverse". Not outstanding but not bad.
So I'm gonna do this review in two sections. The first is in reference purely to the 9 new tracks for I Am Angry and I Am Crazy. The second will be in reference to the project as a whole. My rating will reflect the entire project.
[New Tracks]
The 9 new tracks carry the existing quality of the rest of the work released prior. In most cases it's okay. There's nothing eggregious, but nothing truly astounding. I feel like MISSIO including more distorted guitar in the music is a welcome change in ... read more
I feel like this is a solid handful of b-sides. There's not much I can say that doesn't just reapply from my thoughts on the self-titled LP. Are they doing anything crazy? No. I will say I do enjoy it more since it's a much more managable chunk of music being just 5 songs.

What a fantastic album. Bravo Vampire Weekend. This album manages to stay captivating and innovating from beginning to end. The album is a constant contradiction in the best way possible. It's so noisy it feels organized. It's so fast it feels relaxed. It's so up its own ass it feels humble.
One thing I can't deny is Vampire Weekend makes some damn pretentious music, but in the best way possible. Every second of this album oozes with personality and emotion. I just can't describe ... read more
This is easily the best Black Keys album since Turn Blue. I wouldn't say it's a return to form, but I feel like this album is the closest thing we might get to a proper continuation to what they were doing a decade ago at this point. This album isn't some grand experimental masterpiece, but it genuinely feels like the duo pushing their boundaries. It's no secret that there has been a lot more outside eyes looking in during the production of this album. Offerings from Beck and Noel Gallagher ... read more
