Quite forgettable besides a few standouts that I really enjoyed. Lil Tecca still has that bespoke feel to his music and while it does feel like he has adapted his production style to be more in line with the music culture Opium is creating, I'm just not sure he is fully committed to the feel.
Energetic mixtape, sometimes feels like they are trying too hard to go back and forth, some of these beats would have suited longer more consistent one artist verses way more. Still a fun album.
Well made album. Showcased his potential and his strongest attribute being his addictive (no pun intended) flow. Shallow lyricism and a slight repetitive nature drag this down.
White Denzel Curry for me. This is really good, lyrically impressive and the beat selection is great.
Very fun yet serious album, pleasing.
Enjoyable first listen and has only grown on me as I listen deeper. Antonoff has to be trolling Taylor Swift at this point, hearing his work on songs like 'heart pt. 6' !!!! Sonically this is going to age spectacularly, very good.
The pacing of the album is perfect, emotional tracklist and as usual feature selection blows me away.
Well paced, almost hypnotic, intelligent tracks - much more polished than his previous release.
Pure excitement, mixes old and new styles, maintaining lyrical excellence layered with addictive hooks. Modern Joey Bada$$ could have nailed the boom bap genre with some more exciting beat selection.
Despite some repetitiveness this is generally a solid album, the production is so damn cool and these Jean tracks never fail to bring an air of levitation. His vocals and stylistic values match up so well with the heavy yet dreamy production. Favourites were inevitably the singles but tracks like You're Bleeding Everywhere, Darlin', and Electric Children were super cool as well.
Really fun mixtape, reminiscent of Doja Cat with slightly more abstract elements, wordplay and personality. TDE have a gem with Doechii. Production is pretty much perfect. Towards the back end of the record, there's a real feeling of future nostalgia in tracks like BEVERLY HILLS & SLIDE.
Favourites were DENIAL IS A RIVER, NISSAN ALTIMA, SLIDE, and DEATH ROLL.
Went back to this after CHROMAKOPIA and it sounds even better. Probably the ultimate concept album - the thematics alongside the next level production styles really come together with Tyler's style of singing/rapping. Quite rare for a 'rap' album to bring out emotions on a level that IGOR does - ARE WE STILL FRIENDS :'(
Really enjoyable and I think of this more as a follow-up to IGOR which held a similar concept album theme with more explorative themes and production styles - as usual with west coast hip hop, not scattered with cash grab features and instead well placed and chosen features that fit the theme of the album.
Room for improvement but generally solid and very well put together. Enjoyable record that kind of has everything. Feels like if Denzel Curry dropped this it would be huge. Saba has a great ability in rap and it feels very natural, along with the bedroom rap style production.
The semi-basic production companied with laid back rapping really contribute to the overall chilled but emotional vibe of the album, vintage Kanye. Very comforting album, laden with storytelling tracks, relaxed or intense beats and sampling, and Kanye showcasing his peak lyrical ability. Going back to this, considering it is 20 years old, its INSANE. The transitions, brass sampling - all of this could be released in 2024 and be labelled revolutionary. Even the skits are fun and special, which ... read more
Hype and raw album, aesthetic and genre-defining. So unique, hard to believe this dropped in TWO THOUSAND THIRTEEN. From the sampling to the addictive flows, LLA should be regarded as a classic nowadays.
